4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected
I am not the biggest Michael W. Smith fan. I like him, just not the biggest fan of his music. I attended his concert with Steven Curtis Chapman last week in Omaha. Maybe it was the concert, but I was blown away with him. I love worship music, true worship music sung by people who worship from the heart. This cd is wonderful, a true worship setting. I would rank this as...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good CD but you can just listen to the original artists instead
I am a MWS fan. Have been since I was a kid. I am also a huge fan of worship music. That said, you'd think I'd love this cd. It is good, however you can just listen to the original artists of most of these songs and they sound just as good or better. Hillsong makes amazing worship cd's and their songs are remade here by MWS. Delirious is the same. There are a few...

I would rank this as one of the best live worship cd's I have heard, and I prefer this better than his first two. If you want music you can worship to, this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful 3rd Worship Album, November 7, 2008
This review is from: A New Hallelujah (MP3 Download)
MWS hits the mark with this live worship cd recorded in Houston, TX. The music has an international feel with the African children's choir, Israel Houghton and Coalo Zamarono adding their talents to the recording. Upbeat tempos, inspiring lyrics and powerful orchestrations bring you directly into worship. One can't help but get caught up in experience of worship. One of the best $9.99 investments you can make. Much of the music and lyrics are Michael's own with help from his wife Debbie, band member Christa Black, Israel Houghton and Paul Baloche. Need a fresh worship experience, download the title track, A New Hallelujah; want a closer walk with God, download Mighty to Save or Deep In Love with You; need hope for a difficult time, download Help Is On the Way, River Is Rising. There is something for everyone here.

There's nothing new that I can see.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Album; A New Hallelujah, October 6, 2008
This review is from: A New Hallelujah (MP3 Download)
Excellent album. As a radio DJ, I have heard the tracks to this newest album by Michael W. Smith and give it the highest rating of any album yet this year in the Christian music genre. Highly recommended! Michael blends his unique and distinctive style with a worshipful and slightly reminiscent of Hillsong feel.

I purchased this for my husband. He loves it. He carries it with him in his truck and also brings it in the house when he gets home. He has been listening to it since I gave it to him:-)

I am appreciating the new worship recording done by MW Smith. The Uganda African Children's Choir adds to the celebration as does having this be a live recording. I put this on a par with his first "Worship" recording done ten years ago or so. It is a must for any Smith fan or a great introduction for those not familiar with him yet.

I picked this up after hearing the title song many times and attending a grand opening at a christian bookstore. I can't quit listening to it. It is SO worshipful and many of the songs make me want to get up and dance. Our youth group went crazy over tract 4!

Once again, Michael has lifted us to the throne room to deliver praise. And he still does a great job of it.

Like the previous two, this CD is a recording of a live worship event that Michael led. There are two differences from the previous releases. There are no studio tracks, here. More importantly, Michael wrote about half the song on here. A few originally appeared on his last couple of studio releases, but they fit right in here.

Of the familiar songs, I really am thrilled to get "Mighty to Save" a song I learned this summer. And I can't get enough copies of "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)." Michael has arranged the classic hymn "I Surrender All" to switch from English to Spanish, which is kind of cool.

And that's another thing that sets this CD apart. Several friends show up to help with the songs. Caolo Zamorano does the Spanish singing I just discussed. Israel Houghton does a duet on the gospel flavored "Help is on the Way" that he co-wrote. Finally, the African Children's Choir back up Michael on two songs, both with a fun African flavor.

My one complaint is the same one I've had with his other Worship projects. At times, he just takes a few lines and repeats them. If I am paying close attention to the disc, that gets annoying. Fortunately, most of the time I tune it out at that point and come back for the next song.

If you were a fan of Michael's previous worship oriented releases, you'll enjoy having this one in your collection as well.
