Don Braden is a great saxophonist. this CD shows his work with the organ. This CD is also a tribute to the CD's drummer, Cecil Brooks & his new (new at time of release) jazz club. Don Braden is the the camp director at the camp I went to so that is another good reason to say, get this disc!
Backed by Kyle Kohler (organ); Conrad Herwig (trombone); & the above mentioned drummer, this is one powerful CD!

This CD is a lot of fun and it shows that jazz remains artistically viable, and entertaining, into the 21st century. Braden's got a nice tone, the compositions are interesting, and the addition of trombonist Conrad Herwig is a real plus...there's much more going on here, musically, then simply running the changes. Cecil Brooks, the drummer, is pretty up-front in the mix, which keeps things swinging. Highly recommended.
