this album has a great mellow jazz sound with just enough island tempo to carry you away. I loved the blending of instruments and each cut is distinctive and interesting. Loved it.

infectious rhythms, tight band... if you like mellow jazz, flute and vibes this is killer.. catchy tunes, percussion is great, super bass, steve kahn always tasty on guitar.. have to disagree with the other review that only gave this one star...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

great compositions,

I give 5 stars because of two superb compositions: Rainforest, and Arthur's dance. Plus, playbacks of both compositions (and of a third one, Ivory Coast) can be found in Jamey Aebersold's play-a-long book&Cd set 'Latin Quarter' (vol 96). You can thus play 'with' Dave Samuels and Steve Khan!

Well, I love Carribbean Jazz Project, but this album is the worth album of C.J.P* !You must buy "Island Stories" or "Caribbean Jazz project" and generally all of the album with Paquito D'Rivera. Regards C.D *CJP: Caribbean Jazz project |
