Giant list of early jazz recordings, 1920-48; super index.,
By Frank Nowaczek (fnowaczek@bachow.com) (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New Hot Discography (Hardcover)
Originally copyrighted 1948 this volume is a find for early Jazz fans, listing nearly every early recording from King Oliver in 1923 through 1948. You can trace the movements of musicians via the name index, thus finding Glenn Miller first listed playing trombone on Jan 23 1928 for Benny Goodman's Boys in "Wolverine Blues." Hard to find, this volume was indenspensible when I was a radio jazz disk jockey many years ago. Still great.
