This text is a companion volume to "Miniture Bobbin Lace" and offers a portfolio of over 50 Torchon, Binche, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire patterns to make for the dolls' house. Illustrated throughout with line drawings and colour photographs - and also containing pricking patterns - this text offers projects varying in scale and complexity, intending to appeal to the beginner and more experienced lacemaker alike. This text also includes information on materials and equipment, and instructions for stitches and techniques. Projects presented in this text include: wedding and christening attire; festive decorations; seasonal gifts and cards; luxury evening garments and accessories; bedroom furnishings and lingerie; market-day finery; and decorative items for the fireside.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

This is Snowden's (New Ideas for Miniature Bobbin Lace) second book of patterns for miniature bobbin lace projects suitable for dollhouses and dressing miniature dolls. It includes 1/12th scale patterns for 50 miniature Torchon, Binche, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire lace projects with step-by-step instructions, prickings, diagrams, and photographs of the finished pieces, as well as difficulty ratings for each project. Although basic instructions are included, novices in bobbin lace would profit more from books such as Doris Southard's Lessons in Bobbin Lacemaking or Bridget M. Cook's Practical Skills in Bobbin Lace. Recommended for lace collections and for public libraries where demand warrants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superrior book for miniature lace, June 29, 2002

This review is from: New Ideas for Miniature Bobbin Lace (Paperback)
I have her first book and let me tell you this book is like a second eddition to the first but better. She gets into 3d shapes and designs as well as uses different types of threads including silk. The edgings and mats are a continuation to her first book. She also gets into harder things for you to make. The baby shawl in this book is truely a beautiful pattern that anyone who makes lace would love to have included in their dollhouses. This book also has the section which shows you how to do each stitch which very rarely is found in other books. A must have for anyone into dollhouse bobbin lace making.
