this book is lots of fun,

This review is from: New Illustrated Treasury of Disney Songs (Paperback)
This Disney song book is fun and easy to play. It's not a fake bookbut the songs are sort of shortened, which I didn't like very much. However, it's still a great book. There is a history of how they included music into the Disney movies and cartoons. There are even songs to the Disney afternoon cartoons. There are a few full paged illustrations and each song title has a illustration next to it. I definitely recommend this book to Disney song lovers out there.

Treasury of Songs,

I am a young pianist and I am at an Intermediate-Advanced level. I found this book challenging and fun. It can be used for the guitar, piano, and vocals and contains many classic Disney songs. I would recomend this book to ametuer musicians and all Disney fans.

Great to have, but missing some favorites,

This book was the best I could find to give me music and lyrics for a wide variety of songs that my 2 yr old knows now, as well as may become familiar with in the future.
But there are two flaws: It is missing some favorite songs, and not all the verses and intro riffs are shown with the music, so you'll have to improvise if you have a drama star in your home. The missing favorites especially seem to be from the older movies I grew up with, such as 'Never smile at a Crocodile". I presume these have been dropped over the years to make room for newer Disney tunes, but frankly, I don't have much use for the theme to "Brother Bear" for example. Also, not all the verses and are shown with the actual sheet music. Instead, the complete lyric is shown after the song, with the music published only for the excerpt. This is annoying if you need to sing the complete song with your child.

So many quality songs for the money,
This review is from: New Illustrated Treasury of Disney Songs (Paperback)
I enjoy sitting down and playing/singing these original songs from the disney movies. They are the original arrangements and the repetoire spans from the early movies such as Mickey Mouse to the latest Hunchback of Notre Dame. This is such a great find!

These are accurate transcriptions of many Disney favorites. A child playing diligently for a few years could tackle some of these songs. But don't think you are getting the 1998 publication. This one takes out some like "I wanna be like you", "Higitus Figitus", in order to put in more current songs from Brother Bear, Atlantis, and Treasure Planet. At last notice this book was priced at $29.95 - pretty steep in my opinion, but the publisher has cause for this list price; it's well bound and the pages are glossy and of good quality. So far my favorites to play are "Where the dream takes you" from Atlantis, "Go the Distance" from Hercules, and "Colors of the Wind" Pocahontas. But you can't beat the old classics from Snow White, Pinocchio, and Cinderella.

Love it, love it. I grew up sitting on my mom's lap singing all the Disney songs out of the "old" Disney treasury and then when I got old enough, played them for myself. I love this new version. The songs aren't simplified so they sound really good and I love that I can teach my kids the old songs along with the new.

I already had the original New Illustrated Treasury Of Disney, a blue hardcover. This new edition is equal to the original and I would suggest getting both books if you can. The older one has some great songs that the new one left out. This new edition is printed on high quality paper, and each song has a nice full color picture from the song's movie on the top corner of page. Wonderful selection includes songs from the newer movies, so this book brings me up to date. I am a piano teacher, and will be teaching this book to every student able to play the arrangements. Intermediate level. I took my book (shipped quickly by Amazon) to a copier to have a spiral binding installed to allow book to lay flat. Cheerful, great music.

Joy in music,

My daughter loves this book. She enjoys practicing all of the time now. It contains Disney songs that I remember from the older movies, all the way to the current hits. I truly believe that anyone who buys it will have fun playing the music & will create new family memories. My kids even made breakfast for us & then sang "Be Our Guest" all to surprise us.

Good but not Great. 4 Stars!,

I was pleased with my purchase but I definitely think it could be better. I would classify the music difficulty as moderate/intermediate. I liked how the song choices covered a wide range of Disney movie categories. It contained very modern songs (from Atlantis, and Brother Bear) also contained very old songs (Snow White, etc.) It contained a good bit of music from Disney's best (Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast) as well as songs from old disney movies such as The Parent Trap and Old Yeller. And don't forget the very contemporary Disney Park Songs and Broadway Collection.
One of the few complaints I had with the book was that the songs were cut short. Although I can understand that the chorus of the song is probably the most recognizable part, an intermediate piano player probably wants to play introductions and the full song. Although, I still commend Hal Leonard for including all the lyrics for the Vocal portion of the book. The best part was the arrangements were not fake and were fairly easy to play and sound great. Definitely a good buy!

Beautiful songbook. Great color photographs from the Disney movies. Large collection from old to recent movies. Excellent accompaniments with singable arrangements. I highly recommend. Several songs from this book are listed in the Federation Contest List for Musical Theater vocal solos.
