5.0 out of 5 stars Best study Bible I've come across
This is the absolute best study Bible I have ever come across! I've used many, from the Open Bible, Life Application Bible, Thompson Chain Reference Bible, Ryrie Study Bible and Hebrew Greek Key Bible. There comes a time where you want to dig out what the Word says to you. Not commentators, Not translators. Just you and God. That's what this does. A small introduction is...

I have used the original NASB Inductive Study Bible for some years in hardback format,so on seeing this new edition in the NASB Updated,I decided to give it a try.

When it came I was disappointed to say the least.
Yes the binding is a very nice quality genuine leather, but it is glue injected and not sewn,an absolute necessity for a well used Bible.

A small introduction is given at the beginning of each book, and you are given things to look out for or notice in each book. You have pages to record your notes on, and wide margins to write personal notes and applications right next to the text. There are also blank pages for notes in the back of the Bible. Also included at the end of each book of the Bible is a "Chapter Theme" Chart where you record the Theme of each chapter. It makes a wonderful quick reference! There is also a space for you to record the theme at the beginning of each chapter. I never realized how helpful it is to do it yourself! The more you make notes in this Bible and discover truths, the more irreplaceable it becomes. The text is a nice print and easy to read. It is single column text. The references are wonderful, and there anre many. I highly recommend it. It may be the last study Bible you ever need!

Yes the binding is a very nice quality genuine leather, but it is glue injected and not sewn,an absolute necessity for a well used Bible.
When one uses a glue bound bible, it is not long before the pages start to come loose and fall out.Great care is needed when you try to lay the Bible flat on a table because the spine is subject to cracking or splitting.
This edition is also much smaller in format than the previous one, no doubt to cut costs rather than offer any advantage to the purchaser.

When are consumers going to learn that they are being had over by Publishers who have started to produce lesser quality Bibles and are charging them much more for the privilege?
Time was when sewn bindings were the rule rather than the exception.
And at this price , sewn bindings should be the norm rather than the exception.

It would seem that Christian Publishers are not very much different from their secular counterparts afterall.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is THE bible to have!, February 10, 2003
By
Beatrice "me100finn" (Military Wife in Japan) - See all my reviews
I rec'd my bible four days ago, the leather bound. I was suprised how thick it was! The quality is very good. I was concerned with the thickness of the pages--they are better (thicker) than any other bible I have. I am sure some highlighters will still see through to some point.

A note on the study tools--I think they are wonderful and will add great depth and understanding to my study. This is what I have been looking for! Personally, I will not use all the various markings as suggested (they are a bit elaborate!). I have adapted my own marking system based on it though (by using color underlined words or coloring a few words with colored pencils). There is no way I could read through the scriptures if I were to mark up the words as suggested. Now if this were study only bible/reference--fine. But I want to sit down and READ it too--and not have to see through all the markings.

Just by reading through the first few chapters of Genesis, I have gained the smallest insight and revelation. My approach to reading is much more fresh. The outlines/instructions at the start of each book really sets the tone and prepares me for study.

The maps and information in the Help section are fabulous (information that you "need to know" to understand the bible history).

I got the indexed version, burgundy leather. The leather seems to have some odd coloring/swirls on it. I guess that can be expected of the "real" leather.

Overall, I am confident that this bible will be THE one bible I will carry with me for years to come. I am very excited about reading the Word again...just ME and GOD. I am confident that the Holy SPirit will reveal to me what I need to know--I do NOT have to be dependent on comments/notes/etc. as I did in my other bibles.

I am new to the NASB version. I have been reading it online ... since I had placed my online purchase. It is such easy reading, but not "washed out". The Word seems so much clearer to me now. The dynamic equivalence of this version falls inbetween the Amplified and King James Version. These two are both favorites of mine too.

BUY IT TODAY! You won't be disappointed!

I love the pages of this Bible - they are thick enough to allow you to write on (and erase!) without bleeding through or tearing. It's great! It also encourages you to interpret the message on your own making it truly God's word for you! The up front material is great, as well as the index, maps, and additional details. Overall - A+.

This is my first Inductive Bible, but I'm familiar with Kay Arthur's method of study and I love it! This Bible is very user friendly and the quality of pages and binding seems to be high, should last many years. I highly recommend the NASB and this Inductive format for in-depth study of God's Word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bible on the Market, November 9, 2006

This review is from: The New Inductive Study Bible (International Inductive Study Series) (Hardcover)
I started using this Bible for my own use several years ago when I began serious Bible study. After using it for the past several years, I have since ordered over twenty copies for use in Bible studies in a Senior assisted living home.

Several wonderful features about the Bible. To begin with, the Bible format is the best I have seen. Each verse begins with a new line. Then there is plenty of space on each page for "marking" references. The side bar references are excellent as well. The introduction to each book of the Bible is informative and I find the inductive approach very helpful in my own personal Bible study. The additional content includes history of Israel, colored maps, colored timelines of Biblical history, Concordance, tips on understanding gramatical differences in Greek (important when fine tuning translations). The additional features of this Bible are outstanding.

The inductive approach is unique as well. I have come to appreciate the importance of the inductive approach since other Bible commentaries might be a particular author's opinion. Praying as you study helps you to gain your own insight into the relevance of God's Word to your own personal life. The inductive approach helps you to do that. In particular, each chapter of each book of the Bible has a line where you indicate the theme of the chapter, so that rather than tell you what the chapter is about, you have an opportunity to mark the chapter title for yourself. This helps you to think more about what you are reading, gives the Holy Spirit a better opportunity to inspire you in your own personal Bible study.

I am glad to have had the opportunity to review this Bible.

The only draw back is the interpretation of Daniel 2,7,8, and the time lines involved. Antiochus Epiphanes (considered the "small horn") was simply not (from my study of Daniel) "exceedingly great", relative to the other kingdoms. And I don't subscribe to the interpretation of the last week of Daniel at the end time. But for the ladies in my Bible study at the assisted living center, it doesn't really matter since delving into Daniel at all is a bit beyond the scope of our study! The rest of the Bible is so good that I have to overlook that.

I have also given the Bible as gifts to several people, including my nephew and mother.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Tool, February 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The New Inductive Study Bible (International Inductive Study Series) (Hardcover)
I just bought this Bible and I am only half-way through studying one book of the New Testament, but I am already impressed. I wasn't looking for a Bible so much as I was a study method. I wanted to study the Bible, but I was so overwhelmed. After all, the Bible is so LONG! Which book do I start with? How do I study it beyond a simple reading? How can I let the Bible speak for itself? I had bought a copy of Kay Arthur's book How to Study Your Bible: The Lasting Rewards of the Inductive Method in which she recommended this study Bible, so I decided to give it a try. I have to say that this Bible combined with her book really helped me out. I now have a METHOD to study the Bible. I can let the Bible speak for itself by doing my own study with gentle guidance for each book. For anyone who has ever been overwhelmed by the sheer size of the Bible, this is the study guide to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Inductive Study Bible by Precept Ministries International, January 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The New Inductive Study Bible (International Inductive Study Series) (Hardcover)
This is the best Bible to own.It has no commentary but plenty of helps right in the text where you are reading. There is a study plan given at the beginning of each book of the Bible so that you will be instructed as to how to study each book. Maps and helps are right in the text where you need them as well as a good concordance in the back. There are pages to list your own personal deductions so that later you have your own notes right where you need them. You are encouraged to title each book as well as the chapters as you study, so that you will have those notes when you go back and wish to remember. This Bible shows you how to study properly and accurately this God-breathed text so that you will understand His ways and directions as were written. It does not promote a particular doctrine, but God's doctrine which is what the Bible is all about. Read it for yourself and be lifted up in your soul!

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Bible Study, November 7, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The New Inductive Study Bible (International Inductive Study Series) (Hardcover)
This Inductive Study Bible is a must for students who want to discover truth for themselves. In the beginning of the book is the how-to for Inducrive Bible Study. There are timelines and historical kinds of charts throughout. Directions for marking key words and titling chapters and paragraphs are an integral part of the process. There are beautiful pictures of the various tabernacles in the OT. I have personally used this Bible for 20 years and am on my second inductive Bible. Studying in this way has revolutionized my Christian walk. I also highly recommend that you check out Precept Ministries International that has Bible studies designed to be used along with this Bible.
