I love it!,

Honestly, until this year I was never a very regular or interested bible reader. My Catholic bible has remained virtually untouched from Confirmation 5 years ago to the present. However, after deciding to make a complete commitment to God this year with my life, I decided I needed a bible I could actually read! Having no information really on this subject, I asked for a recommendation at my Christian book store and they steered me towards this bible. I couldn't be happier! The NIV student bible is much more easily readable than traditional bibles. It also provides little boxes with extra information for many of the chapters. Probably my favorite feature of this bible is that it provides track 1, 2, and three reading programs which vary in lenght from 2 weeks to 3 years. If you haven't ever really been a serious bible reader, this directs you where to start and can give you an overview of the bible in a very short time. The Word of God is powerful and amazing, and this bible provides wonderful access to it. I recommend the NIV study bible for people at all spiritual levels! Michelle

A terrific, easy-to-use resource for understanding more...,

A shortage of Sunday School teachers in our church forced me to take on the job. I did so with much trepidation because I am not a Bible scholar, yet wanted to be able to answer the children's questions and get things right. The New Student Bible has been an enormous help. In addition to the text in modern-day American English, it has an excellent index, maps, and lots of call-outs and sidebars that help a 21st Century American understand the context of Biblical times. It also offers a number of reading plans, from two-week plans focused on a particular area, to plans for the entire Bible. Nothing beats the beautiful language of the King James version: "Thou preparest a table before me..." But this book is where you can go to really understand what was going on, and what it meant at the time.

Wonderful Study Tool,
This review is from: New International Version: The Student Bible (Hardcover)
I am very pleased with my decision to purchase this Bible, and would highly reccomend it to anyone who truly wants a deeper understanding of the word of God. Even if you are familiar with the Bible, the features and profiles often bring up new facts. It would also be great for someone new to the Bible...the reading plans, especially, are an easy way to stay motivated. I believe this Bible brings the Bible a little closer...making reading it seem more like the relevant part of your life it should be, and less of a bothersome chore you do 'because you should.'

If you ask any person who has owned mulptial Bibles, you will find that many of those people will have the same thing in common. They find that the footnotes are annoying, or did not fullfill their purpose. One of the greatest tributes that this Bible has to offer is that there are random little 'in debth' looks into different passages. I've found these useful in that they give you an example of how deep you can really go into the Bible. One innacuracy I have found in this Bible is the translation. In several parts, I feel the urge to pick up my Hebrew Bible, and make the translation myself, just to double check. There have been many cases where I was fairly certain that a passage in a specific secion said one thing, when it clearly said something different. As one of the main purposes of the Bible is to extract a feeling of what is morally sound, you want as close a translation to the real thing as possible. Like I said though, this only comes up in a select few parts, so don't feel that you need to rush out and get another Bible to check it's translation^_^ Another note that people may or may not realize is that one of the authors of the Left Behind series (my memory fails me as to what his name is at this current moment) helped write those little side notations, which is another plus. For a student (teen-college), I highly recomeend this Bible, and think that it is probally one of the best out there for that age group. For those who may be older or younger, you should check out the differnt types of Bibles that the NIV version has to offer--ex: devotional, single's, womans, mens, childrens ect... Godbless 'ya! (I know he will:)

God's Word never returns void,

Absolutely beautiful. As a student, I love this Bible for all the insights it provides in its study helps. Right now I am following its 3-year Through the Bible plan, and I enjoy it! The subject guide is really helpful for when I am talking with unbelieving or newly believing friends; one example is the "Do we sin now that we are under grace?" issue. Some, the study note for a different passage points out, think that "If I sin more, I'll receive more grace." No way! We know (as stated one way in Hebrews 10:26-31, which is truly very frightening) that Christ laid His life down for us so that we could live for Him and for the Law. Similarly, as Ephesians 4:1 states, we should live lives worthy of the calling that we have received from God!My mother, who's studied the Bible all her life, loves to read my Bible, too. It gives her new insights, she says, and the NASB translation is so refreshing! Carrying an NIV version of this Student Bible has also elicited many comments from friends, classmates, and people I know only by face. One asked to read it for an afternoon. Praise God!

Greatest Bible to Read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: New International Version: The Student Bible (Hardcover)
The Student Bible is the greatest study bibles ever. The 1, 2, and 3 track programs are absulutely perfect for studying. These programs make me feel that I don't have to obliged to read 3 or 4 chapters each day. One chapter a day is usually the amount you read in the Track plans and it's even better if you read ahead. Buy this bible. I am closer to god than ever before.

I own about 5 Bibles, and this is my favorite. And I really like the plans in the beginning for those who wish to read the whole Bible (or not). There are 3 tracks for you to choose from based on how you want to pace your reading (Topics, Every Book, and Every Word). Lastly, the size to not too big, and not too small.

This is a great bible for study and an easy to understand translation. It has an index in the back which I find very helpful to find verses on relevant subjects that are going on in my life during that time. The only problem I have with this bible is that there are blurbs here and there (easy to ignore) which provide an interpretation of the text. While this can be very helpful for someone who wants to read an interpretation, I believe that part of the experience of reading a Bible is left upon the reader to interpret it however he or she chooses. Still, I'd recommend it highly for anyone who is serious about understanding the Bible and who wants a good Bible reference around. Of all my Bible translations, this one is my most used one.
