Book Description

December 1, 2006
Despite the incredible artistry and skill evident in the prolific output of New Ireland artists of the late 19th century, their work is still largely unknown. This review is from: New Ireland: Art of the South Pacific (Paperback)
303 Pages, 11" x 9.5", Paperback, 132 full color plates, 2 maps. An excellent selection of items depicted, the record of the three 2007 exhibitions : at the Saint Louis Art Museum, at The Musee Du Quai Branly, Paris, and at the Ethnologisches Museum, Staatliche Museen Zu Berlin. Quality photographs, quality items, quality paper : many items one to a page. Very strong selection of figures, architectural elements, and masks. Highly recommended.
