Still the best,

This review is from: New Jersey Day Trips: A Guide to Outings in New Jersey and Nearby Areas of New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, 10th edition (Paperback)
New format looks good for this old favorite. The 10th edition, published by Rutgers Univ. Press, may be a little milder in its view of NJ outings than previous editions, but the book still has a "voice". There are many new entries, quite a few of the short, factual variety so newcomers to the state should find plenty to do. Earlier editions had better cross-references and indexes, but this one has better driving directions and includes websites for almost all entries.
Out of state entries like th Crayola Factory or Hyde Park are now found at the end of each chapter, so once you get used to this you know where to find them. STill the best alll around guidebook to New Jersey.

I did not grow up in NJ. I bought 3 different day trips books for NJ, at the same time. This is by far, the best of the three because it indexes the trips by their county which is most valuable if you don't know your way around the state. Also important since your day trip will only be in one general area, and not spread across the state. It also lists the trips by category, such as museums, tours, outings, historic sites, etc. It does a good of job of giving relevant information, costs, hours of operation, etc. I'm not complaining but I wish it had a larger section on specialty shopping so I could find a place called Fazio's or some such. If you are a stranger to NJ, this is the book to get. The other titles lack a useful organization, needed by the new commer trip planner, me.

Good book filled with interesting day trips not only in New Jersey but nearby states. I had purchased one about 10 years ago but needed a more current one.

The book is called NJ Day Trips but the chapters in the book is not by Day Trip but by category. Ex: One chapter of all amusement parks in NJ, or one chapter on Museums of all kinds. When I look for a Day trip I would like to pick on town and know everything there is to do in that town and nearby.
I would not recommend this book!
