How to become a networking Jedi Master,
By
This review is from: The New Job Search: Break All The Rules. Get Connected. And Get Hired Faster For The Money You're Worth. (Paperback)
I admit that when I saw the book I thought there probably was nothing new in here and frankly I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. This is actually a very good book and while networking is not new to any of us, Molly has some great tips and valuable insight combined with some humor to keep it light. It was a pleasant and easy read, and at the same time it was very relevant and has great tips and advice throughout. I really enjoyed it, got some great insights and ideas from it and highly recommend it.

Discover What You Are Meant To Be Doing As You Search For Work!,
By Bernie L. Malonson "B. Malonson" (Chandler, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The New Job Search: Break All The Rules. Get Connected. And Get Hired Faster For The Money You're Worth. (Paperback)
Molly Wendell is a networker's "Networker". Her business is helping you to network your way to your next position. If you ever attend an event she is at, do your best to make contact with her. Don't be surprised however if she sizes you up first a bit. As a participant in her Executives Network, I am constantly impressed by Molly's ability to cut to the chase and get to the heart of what is holding you back. This book is pure meat, with little if any fat. The key is to understand that all of us are where we are for a reason, and sometimes it is the adversity we are facing in a job or career change that is needed to propel us forward. Unlike other job and career "consultants" Molly has started unemployment in the face (for two years) and emerged victorious. The book is well worth the money and highly recommended.
Cheers!

Uncommon Common Sense,
By E. Gibson "Avid Reader" (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The New Job Search: Break All The Rules. Get Connected. And Get Hired Faster For The Money You're Worth. (Paperback)
You won't find a job by reading this book, but you will find pure, unadulterated common-sense tips for both those in a job search and those who are in an employee search. When was the last time you met someone new and had an "interesting conversation?" When you have them, you remember, don't you?
Herein lies the basis of Molly's advice on a search. There are so many pointers on how to meet the people who will offer you a job -- what to do, what not to do, how to do it, etc. There are relevant stories about real-life experiences, a great summary at the end of each chapter and a style of writing that makes this an easy, humorous and informative read.

I used the information from this book immediately. It is relevant to today's job market and will help you plan your approach. Using these tools you can be the person people want to meet rather than the job seeker they want to avoid.
The book is an easy and humorous read that has wonderful networking tips. Molly's recommendations are certainly useful for job seekers, but also for those wishing to increase their networks and become a successful networking butterfly or eagle depending on your personal style.

I purchased this book based on the author's personal story and reviews posted here at Amazon. I'm only on chapter 5 and can adamantly confirm others' praise for this book. The author's approach is extremely positive and pragmatic. I fully expect to find success by implenting the recommendations found in The New Job Search.
Good luck to all those willing to get out there and try a different approach!!!

Wendy writes with such ease and a common sense approach you feel like she standing right there talking to you. As a VP of HR, I read her book from the stand point on how candidates may approach us for employment. I immediately started quoting some of her ideas and relaying stories. Thanks Wendy for being so candid!

This review is from: The New Job Search: Break All The Rules. Get Connected. And Get Hired Faster For The Money You're Worth. (Paperback)
This is a great book for people who are "in transition" or who just want grow their network of contacts. Molly has done an excellent job of writing a book that's full of great strategies and tactics as well as common sense reminders. The book covers most of the basics that you want in regards to job search (resumes, business cards, websites, working with recruiters, interviewing, etc.). However, Molly has a fresh take on many of these subjects. I found the networking suggestions the most valuable part of the book. After reading the book, I felt much more comfortable reaching out to network with people who I probably would not have prior to reading the book. Her suggestions on how to get the most out of networking opportunities was also really helpful I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in job search.

Holy cow !!! I got the book Sunday, read part of the book and more on Monday morning - Using what I read, I worked up a set of questions for a second phone interview for a Sr VP role today. And don't you know it was the best interview I've ever had - I controlled the flow - I asked 95% of the questions, I got the invitation to come in to meet the CEO and CFO.
When "you" are the product - listen to Molly...its putting common sense to work. Its a new mindset. Molly's insight helps you leverage what you already have and know - find out what the role is, ask the questions to determine the fit, lead the conversation - its all in your power, but it takes the mindset Molly drives home ! The interviewer thought I did a great job. I thought so too, but that's amazing since they did most of the talking! Its a slap the forehead moment!!! I put the phone down when it was over and laughed. It was like "turning my instincts back on" ! I got the next interview. I highly recommend Molly's approach and "The New Job Search: Break All The Rules. Get Connected. And Get Hired Faster For The Money You're Worth". I'm going to reread it before my next interview prep !

The New Job Search is a fast, entertaining book for anyone who wants to improve their job search results. If you have been doing the same thing and been expecting a different result than this book is for you. It is a different approach to finding the right job for you. Molly's sense of humor makes the book fun, but her suggestions are invaluable.
