I Get a Kick Out of This!, May 9, 2005
This review is from: New Kick! (Audio CD)
Okay, here's what the challenge might have been; put together the greatest folk ensemble ever assembled in a recording studio, give them some of the most delightful, enchanting and classic songs of the sixties, and then create an unforgettable album. And did it work? You bet it did! This is a terrific album, recorded by an outstanding group of America's finest young singers and instrumentalists; the same group that used to regularly appear on such shows as "Hootenanny" and "The Andy Williams Show." Sadly for the absolute fans of the group, several prodigiously talented "originals" such as Barry McGuire had moved on to other ventures by the time this album was recorded (he set down the evocative "Eve of Destruction" about this time), but his and other shoes have been more than adequately filled. The enticement of several bonus tracks (making 23 tracks in all) will lure forth many more long-time NCM aficionados such as myself, to rediscover the magic and the bubbling excitement of this extraordinarily talented line-up in an album filled with verve and beauty.

To see and hear the progression of the different NCM generations is remarkable! The sound is different...and except for the name of the group, you wouldn't have known it was the NCM's.
