Editorial Reviews

Review

Not since Gone with the Wind has a book told the Souths story in the way that New Moon Rising does. Miss Price has a feeling for the land, for its beauty and its secrets. -- Book News

This is more than a Civil War novel, more than a romance, more than an adventure story. . .This is a novel even for those who don't read fiction, a historical drama for those whom history bores, and a revelation of insights for those who pooh-pooh psychology. This is a book to be read, without qualification. -- Cincinnati Inquirer --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

About the Author

Before making St. Simons Island her home, Eugenia Price, a native of Charleston, West Virginia, was a resident of Chicago with a highly successful career in the thiriving area of radio soap-opera programming. The major networks eagerly sought her creative production talents and Price was well respected in the broadcasting world when her life took a marvelous and powerful turn. God began to use her extraordinary writing gifts to communicate her faith with others.

Price's earliest books (Discoveries, The Burden Is Light, and Early Will I Seek Thee) gained her enormous popularity as a speaker at religious groups from across the nation and across all denominational lines. Her compelling message was not about doctrine, but about new birth. In rapid succession she wrote books dealing with Christian living, women's faith perspectives, and devotional themes. Her masterful rephrasing of the entire Bible, Beloved World, went through countless printings. Twenty-six highly personal nonfiction works and fourteen novels were ultimately released by the leading publishers of the day.

Eugenia Price died on May 28, 1996, and is buried at her beloved Christ Churchyard, Frederica, St. Simons Island. Following her death, the Eudgenia Price/Joyce Blackburn Charitable Foundation was established with Blackburn, also a prolific writer, as president. The Foundation holds all publishing rights in perpetuity. Its sustaining purpose is to ensure the availablilty of this written legacy for future generations of readers. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Her Island, October 19, 2001
Another great book for Ms. Price. Read the book in two days. Her story telling has a way of pulling the reader into the story. After reading the St. Simon Trilogy my future visits to her island will have a new meaning for me. I have gone to St Simon's for the last five summers and I always felt so at peace once I got there, I feel that is how she must have felt. It is the most calming and restful place I have ever visited. And after reading her books I can see how she felt. I can hardly want until next summer.

4.0 out of 5 stars An "ok" book, October 6, 2000

Since I like Civil War history, New Moon Rising was an "ok" book. But you would have to like Civil War history to even pick this book up. Because if your looking for a good romance novel this is not the book to read, because there's not much in the romance department in, New Moon Rising. But like I said, it was a fairly good book if you enjoy Civil War history.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Moon Rising, June 16, 2000
By A Customer
It was very intriguing, I felt that it gave a lot of information about the time of the Civil War. I liked the series, how it is about the family and continues their lives.
