Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Aguilar has reorganized her 1980 No Pill, No Risk Birth Control to focus on the positive aspects of natural family planning (NFP). She states a 99.2 percent reliability rate for NFP. Day-to-day evaluation of body signs (basal body temperature, cervical mucus, and cervical changes) is used to determine fertile and infertile days. Part 1 focuses on the biology of fertility; Part 2 is charting methods; and Part 3 discusses benefits and problems, including abstinence, with some discussion of marriage improving because of NFP. The reorganization is useful, and there are minor updates in technique, but the 1980 edition is probably sufficient. Recommended for public libraries if there is a high interest. Jean E. Crampon, Southern Illinois Univ. Sch. of Medicine Lib., Springfield

5.0 out of 5 stars A concise, informative book, February 9, 1999

My husband and I decided that we no longer wanted to use artificial birth control for health reasons. This book really took us step by step into the Natural Family Planning Method. The book was very easy to understand and extremely informative. I have recommended this book and this method to every married couple that I know. This book should be required reading for every married couple, because Natural Family Planning is a healthy, inexpensive way to delay parenthood, and this book explains the method clearly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative, but tough to get through, September 25, 2005
This review is from: The New No-Pill No-Risk Birth Control (Paperback)
This book had a lot of information, but nothing different/new than what I read in other books on the subject. There were no pictures or sample charts to view, so if not for having other books on hand to reference I don't think I would be able to successfully track my fertility. This book would be best used to supplement another fertility awareness book. I would reccomend "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll know when you can get pregnant and when you can't., September 7, 1997
By A Customer
I haven't used any contraceptives whatsoever in over 7 years, thanks to what I learned from reading this book.

I think that the information here is clearer and easier to follow here than in T. Wechler's Taking Charge of Your Fertility, which is also a good book. Still, this one remains my favorite.

Not only do I recommend this book here, but I've put my money where my mouth is: I've given 5 copies to different people in the past several months.

I'm pleased to have this opportunity to tell more people about a natural alternative to contraception
