5.0 out of 5 stars It cured us!!!
After being diagnosed with Alopecia Areata and being told there was no known cause or cure I read this book. After adopting the diet and supplements recommended in this book the Alopecia left and has not recurred. Not to mention several other wonderful health benefits (more energy, loss of weight, peace of mind). A must for everyone, don't be fooled by the food...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Mr. Ego
I read this book on the recommendation of people I respect and was very disappointed. I was looking for good information on the best nutrition and it may be there. But the author's ego seems to have gotten in the way. This is the first book that I have ever read where the author frequently quotes HIMSELF.

According to Colgan almost everyone in the world is evil...

After adopting the diet and supplements recommended in this book the Alopecia left and has not recurred. Not to mention several other wonderful health benefits (more energy, loss of weight, peace of mind). A must for everyone, don't be fooled by the food industry or the other dollar makers that don't want you to know the truth. Many people think they are eating healthy by consuming chicken and low-fat foods, but this isn't so. Read this book and save yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars You are most definitely what you eat - a must read!, December 14, 1996
By A Customer
This review is from: The New Nutrition: Medicine for the Millennium (Paperback)
Dr. Colgan does a great job explaining in layman's terms the importance of nutritional suplements as a survival mechanism to combat the absence of an adequate diet. He points out the lack of critical vitamins and minerals in the food we eat due to soil depletion, pollution, and the use of chemical fertilizers. He is not bashful about indicting the National Institute of Health and American Cancer Society for duping the American public about their level of nutrition and health. The American Cancer Society's trading the word cure rate to survival rate has fooled most of us. Naturally with all the sophisticated technology at our disposal, we are detecting the presence of cancer sooner - so it follows that people are "surviving" longer. There's no talk about the cure rate at all. Dr. Colgan, while sometimes brash, is refreshingly candid about how we can all take better care of ourselves through the use of nutritional supplements added to our diets that are woefully lacking the substances required for optimal health

5.0 out of 5 stars The best I have read in this genre!, February 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The New Nutrition: Medicine for the Millennium (Paperback)
Dr. Colgan appears to be at the leading edge of research that is applicable to daily life. When you read this, you see how inadequate most current recommendations (like RDA and even the RealAge Health Quiz) are. Do you want to wait 20 or 30 years for adequately-proven, health- enhancing tactics to be "approved" by the Harvard Health letter and your doctor, or do you want to know about them and apply them now and prevent many problems down the road. For instance, Vitamin E took almost 50 years to be generally accepted as necessary. How many suffered needlessly in the meantime as their physicians scoffed at Vitamin E "the sex vitamin". This book puts you there now - it can improve health and save lives! Good Job.

5.0 out of 5 stars the simplest single source for nutritional information, July 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The New Nutrition: Medicine for the Millennium (Paperback)
i found this book to be the best source of information regarding nutrition when i had to do a search. It allowed me to help my wife complete her chemo regimen ( for breast cancer ) in relatively easy fashion. I recommend it to anyone who wants an insiders input from an outsiders viewpoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars The new testament of nutrition, November 7, 1998
This review is from: The New Nutrition: Medicine for the Millennium (Paperback)
Colgan does a wonderful job with this book. I lived religiously by "Optimum Sports Nutrition" by Colgan, it is an athlete's bible. This book is the new testament. The gospel according to Colgan. I bought copies for my family and recommend it to all. A must read for those who choose to care for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN EYE OPENER...., June 30, 2006

This review is from: The New Nutrition: Medicine for the Millennium (Paperback)
VERY comprehensive volume of work!! All the little nasty things that you wonder about what you're eating and how the industry really cares very little about your health vs. their check books. The BEST thing about it is that Doc Colgan's of a mind to back up everything he says by giving you access to whatever he tells you and let YOU FIND IT FOR YOURSELF!! A must for all those who need to know what they're putting inside their bodies....

4.0 out of 5 stars May Not Be Adviseable for Novices, April 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The New Nutrition: Medicine for the Millennium (Paperback)
This is another book that was totally incredible in its day, but with a 1995 copyright, some of the information is now outdated. Nevertheless, it still contains some excellent nuggets. If you're rather well versed in the field of nutrition, you will do well with this book. If, however, you are a novice, you may want to consider purchasing something more current in place of or in addition to this book.
