5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for...., May 15, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: New Order - In Session (Audio CD)
I really enjoyed the 511 and 316 DVDs, and the versions of the songs here are similar to how they played them in those concerts. You get some "updated" versions of the old classics such as 'True Faith' and 'Touched by the Hand of God' as well as Barney doing some Joy Division songs in a "New Order" style. The songs from 'Get Ready' are more impressive than they were on the original album. I'm still amazed that after 25 years or so this band can still release material that remains true to their roots and sounds fresh.

This is a very important document for the New Order/Joy Division fan, but the encoding of "Transmission" is such that it will only play on a computer, and cannot be imported into iTunes or any other audio software. The rest of the disk is great, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't get enough of this, March 22, 2008
This review is from: New Order - In Session (Audio CD)
Excellent mix of tracks--from the then-newest album Get Ready, to 80s NO classics, to Joy Division tracks. As another reviewed noted, Transmission will only play on disc and can't be imported to iTunes.

Better than the '87 show previously released as BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert, the sound quality and performances here are very good. Excellent song selection, the only gripe being that it's too short. A real gem in a live version of Your Silent Face, with its Kraftwerk keyboards, sounding as good as the album version 20 years later. Slow Jam and the rest of the Get Ready tracks sound great outside the studio.

Overall, another strong BBC/Peel disc. Highly recommended for NO fans.
