About the Author
Veteran sports writer CHRISTIAN SERPAS was born in New Orleans and grew up in adjacent St. Bernard Parish, where he has resided for most of his life. At age 15 he interviewed both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings, combatants in super Bowl IX, which resulted in his first published newspaper article, in the St. Bernard News. Since then, his feature stories have been published in a number of newspapers and magazines, including a series of articles on the history of professional football. In 1985 he co-hosted a local television show, "TV Open House," with his father, Paul F. Serpas. In 1990 he wrote and hosted a regularly scheduled New Orleans radio show titled "Saints Snapshots," which became a popular feature among Saints fans.

"Leading 16-0 in the fourth quarter, the Saints finally wrestled the wounded Viking beast to the mat for the last time, putting an end to many Saints fans' recurring nightmares. Facing a fourth-and-one from their own 29-yard line, the desperate Vikings went for it. As Minnesota's Herschel Walker vaulted over the pile, he was met in midair at the peak of his flight by Saints linebacker Sam Mills, who spun Walker back down to earth for a one-yard loss. "That was it for them," said Rickey Jackson. "They were through. You could see it in their eyes." "The Vikings were through, and the Saints were 4-0, but maybe even more significantly Minnesota's brutal reign of terror over New Orleans was over. As Vaughan Johnson put it, "We got that monkey off our back."

A terrific book for any Saints fan that has edured the trials of the last 30+ years. We have few things to be excited about in the history of our beloved franchise, and this book kept me reading. It very skillfully details the 88-91 seasons and let me as a saint fan re-live our "Glory Days". This is a must for any Saint fan.
