I am not a biblical scholar but this bible seems to me to be all anyone could want. The translation is close to the great King James version but with the mistranslations corrected (or so I think!) There are copious, very helpful notes, introductions, maps, and so on. You can read this bible for sacred purposes, for pleasure, or for secular enlightenment, whichever of these or whichever combination suits you with equal satisfaction. And the paper it is printed on is lovely, slightly heavier than onionskin and nice to the touch. The print is clear and easy to read.
