David Palladini has combined rich color and design using traditonal tarot imagery augmented and ampmlified by his own understanding of the tarot. The result is a very engaging deck with depth and symbolism. It ended my search for a tarot deck.

If you like the symbolism of the Rider Waite, but think the artwork is less than it could be, than check out the New Palladini deck. Rider Waite symbolism wins out here, but with a couple twists. The best part of this deck, however, is the artwork. Clear, bold, and original without being cartoonish, the imagery is simply gorgeous. Palladini, unlike other artists, pays close attention to the minor arcana. The suit of pentacles, done with white/color imagery against the background of a night sky, is creative and effective at the same time. Great for readings and meditation, too.

Doesn't get that 5th star because the card meanings in the insert seem a bit off to me. Minor quibbble only ;)

I bought this deck when it came out, captivated by the use of colors--so much easier on the eyes than the harsh primaries of the Rider-Waite deck! It uses most (but not all) of the RW symbolism, and all of the cards are scene-illustrated (not just a picture of five coins, for example). While everyone here is saying how easy it is for beginners, it's also got more depth than it's gotten credit for. The color symbolism alone adds a new depth to reading--ask yourself what color predominates in your reading, and use your standard color-meanings to give a new dimension to your reading. It's also useful to do a 'double deck' reading with--draw the cards from one deck, then riffle through and find the same cards from an entirely different deck, lay them next to each other, and let the differences and similarities speak!

A more useful and profound deck than many of the cutesy-themed ones coming out today. A lot of decks seem like the just include the symbolic elements because they're ummm, supposed to. "Oh, okay, the Moon has to have a crab so...." This slightly-stripped down deck means its symbols--they aren't just there for decoration. (I think the lack of froufrou is why many reviewers seem to recommend this as a beginner's deck). It's a good blend of aesthetics and solid tradition and very recommended for someone who's tired of the garish reds and yellows of the standard Rider Waite.

I started doing tarot reading for fun ten years ago, with the Mythic Tarot deck as my first set. But browsing a couple of years ago in a new age magic store, the New Palladini deck has recaptured my curiosity by the artwork with it's vibrant colors and beautiful artist interpretation of the tarot. Such a great deck for beginners and those with experience.

The New Palladini is a good looking deck, especially the minor arcana. I prefer the Rider Waite images for the greater trumps.

Out of all of the Tarot decks I've seen this one has some of the best artwork. My only qualm is a minor one: at the bottom of each card it has a USGames copyright notice which, to me, seems out of place on such a meaningful card. It's barely noticeable but I'd rather it were not there. Otherwise I have nothing but good things to say about this beautiful deck. The included booklet would be perfect for beginners.

this is a good deck to start out for beginners. the cards are beautiful and colorful. the deck comes with a booklet explaining how to set up and what each card means in each position. i recommend it to all first timers
