I have a friend who owns this. And even though I've never gotten it myself the songs over the ten years or so have never really left my mind. Every track is great.

TRUE Smooth Jazz!,
By A Customer
This review is from: New Pants (Audio CD)
Smooth Jazz as it was INTENDED to be. Not R&B-in-disguise, and not the cookie-cutter, elevator-bound, formulaic swill that has passed for SJ in recent years. Virtuoso writing and performances by all 4 members. Foot-tapping jams and sweet ballads alike on "New Pants". Flim & the BBs' best work came in the DMP days (before this album), but this and all of their works are highly recommended. Would LOVE to see these guys get back together with Tom Jung for a reunion album!!

New Pants or Old It's Still Great Jazz,
This review is from: New Pants (Audio CD)
I've owned this record since it was first released but hadn't listened to it for quite a while. I popped it into my computer this morning and the 1st thing that came to mind is how good this sounds even though it's almost 20 years old. These guys can play. Not a stinker in the bunch. Just great jazz variations with fabulous drumming and sax playing. Flim & The BB's forever!

Here's yet another triumph from the fellas.
These are the guys who were real pioneers in digital music, and used jazz to explore the form's potential. It was all about perfect recordings, extreme dynamic range and beautiful arrangements. And, oh yes, virtually all the performances are of original compositions created by the men who play them. The results are nothing short of extraordinary. You won't hear any better recording quality, and the music, though all instrumental, tells stories. If I ever have a really bad day, I put on new pants. I put it on when I have a really good day, too.

A Festival Of Sound,

This is my favorite CD bar none. The music is eclectic and dances out of my speakers. If I had to use one word it would be effervescent.

The Emporers of Jazz have got some NEW PANTS!,

This review is from: New Pants (Audio CD)
You can be assured that any time a Flim and the BB's CD enters your digital stereo domain - you are in for a treat. NEW PANTS is no stranger to this idea. It is jazz and improvisation at its finest. Dick Oatts and Billy Barber continue to remain innovative and creative in their approach to Jazz improv. Bill Berg is as masterful a drummer as you could ever "wish upon a star" for and Flim (JImmy ) Johnson has proven over and over again to be one of THE bassists that the world of jazz must stand up for. Add this CD to your collection byut don't stop there, you must also add BIG NOTES, TUNNEL, NEON, THIS IS A RECORDING, TRICYCLE, and THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF FLIM AND THE BB'S to your collection as well. Lift them all onto your MP3 player and enjoy hours of pure Jazz GENIUS.
