How the other half lives...,
By T. Hickman "Author of "The Strangers of K... (Omaha, NE United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: New Paris Interiors (Hardcover)
I'm going to love poring over this book over and over again. It's impossible to look through it all at once, anyway, it's so big and the visual onslaught is overwhelming. Being a middle-class, Great Plains middle-aged person, I will never see these apartments and rooms myself, but it's fun to see how world-class artists, musicians, actors, directors, designers and financiers like to decorate their homes. Some of them, I swear, are compulsive collectors - stuff *everywhere*! Most are beautiful rooms, lending lots of ideas or at least daydreams for one's own home.
The photography is lovely; the text is in blocks of English, French, and German, so if you want to practice your French or German, this is a fun way to do it. If you're a Francophile, like me, it's entertaining and educational peering through those windows out to the Parisian sights. My only complaint is how huge the book is; it's not a lap-book, that's for sure. It is definitely worth the money, in my opinion.

Excellent showcase of Paris interiors,

This book is an excellent viewbook if you want to get a taste of contemporary Paris interiors. It has very modern, a bit more classic and very chic interiors as well. The photos are all full page and very well made, high quality. A fun book to flip through and get inspiration from!

A great book, featuring diverse and striking apartments of real (rich) Paris residents. I like it better than the New New York Interiors book, because the apartments featured here are less edgy and more cozy and livable.

I was very satisfied when I purchased New York Interiors and thought I would be very happy with this volume too.
But among all the interiors displayed there may be three of objective interest while the others seem as a vague kitsch parade of the owner's tastes. If you are as me looking for good interior design ideas I'd say you can do without this book, while some solutions(not architectural, but of furnishing)might be funny or interesting they really don't give a good insight of what's going on in the design world as they seem more some kinds of weird "wunderkammer" than contemporary projects. Buy this book if you like to fancy about Paris, the apartements owner's life and stuff, but let go if you are looking for inspiration. Excuse me the bad enslish!

This book is gorgeous and inspiring and is the most attractive and valuable book I own. I adore it. Many different styles within Parisian life to satisfy. Artistic and eclectic. Makes you want to move to Paris and never come back.
