5.0 out of 5 stars Pyramids around the world and beyond, January 4, 2012

This review is from: The New Pyramid Age: Worldwide Discoveries of New Pyramids Challenge Our Thinking (Paperback)
Philip Coppens has written a book telling of the pyramids which have been found around the world. The recent discoveries of pyramids in China and Bosnia are also included in this book.

The pyramids are still a great mystery as to how they were constructed and what their purposes were. These topics are still debated between the mainstream archeologists and the fringe side of the coin. Mr Coppens takes a realistic look at the pyramids and writes what is known and what is speculation.

The Egyptian Pyramids are the first to be discussed followed by the pyramids of the Americas. Mr Coppens then dwells on finds of pyramids all over the world including China, Europe and other places. The Bosnia Sun Pyramid does look interesting, but some geologists think it is a natural formation (noted geologist Dr Robert Schoch is among them.) The jury is still out as more study and excavations are needed to show if it is an artificial construct.

The more interesting part of the book is the one dealing with the Pyramids of Mars. Mr Coppens even references the Doctor Who episode that dealt on this possibility. The author takes all the latest photographs of the areas claimed to be artificial constructs and does say a case is difficult to make. He does not totally reject the idea (until we land people there to study the areas in question), but does show the evidence is lacking.

Very well written book, including the speculative parts at the end as to what the pyramids were used for. The possibility of actual soul transference to another consciousness is fascinating, and Mr Coppens does this without sounding too New Age on us.

Definitely well worth the price, this book will make a great gift for those who are into a serious study of all the pyramids of the world.

4.0 out of 5 stars The New Pyramid Age, February 6, 2010

This review is from: The New Pyramid Age: Worldwide Discoveries of New Pyramids Challenge Our Thinking (Paperback)
Coppens is obviously on top of his subject matter and his criticisms of the traditional approach to pyramids are well founded. His argument for a `New Pyramid Age' is sound. From what I have read in Coppens' book, and others, we need to revisit, and rethink, pyramids. Coppens is no doubt correct in his approach and is prepared to think outside the box.
