"A light read. Simple with a plot that seemed a little awkward at times, and I always felt like there was a book that came before it that I missed. It was entertaining though and I liked the characters.
Update, I've read the next 2 books now, enjoyed them as well."
"When I first read this one I didn't think I'd end up keeping it but somehow I got attached to the characters and I keep going back to it. When I read this one I always follow it up with When Demons Walk by Briggs or vice versa. I'm not sure why."
"I didn't expect to like this one and actually didn't like it at first (too many battle type scenes in the 1st chapter or so) but then it really drew me in. I got attached to the main character and his story."
"A light read. It's pretty good. It follows the standard fantasy formula a bit though, so it isn't really anything new. Its sort of similar to Green Rider but Green Rider does it better. However, I enjoyed it. I liked the characters and it had my kind of feel to it. I didn't love it but I enjoyed it. Simple and sweet to pass time."
"Different, interesting. I've always liked a little delving into the psychology of the very rich and therefore bored and how they handle it.(Emphasize a little delving, nothing to deep and depressing). Her uncle is an interesting character."
"Also made me pay attention and think. I'm so used to reading books lately that I can skim through and skip here and there and still get the gist of. This woke me up from the reading fog I've been in lately."
"This is was unlike anything else I had read in quite a while. It surprised me and I never really knew where it was going which was great. Emma Bull really has a way with words too, straight forward and real yet almost lyrical and surreal at the same time."
"I didn't expect to like this, but I did. Its kind of like a standard fantasy story - but not. I don't know how to describe it. It’s deeper & more complex than I expected – yet not terribly deep or terribly complex. Not run of the mill, I guess and that's all one can truly say to describe it. I liked it though. Not riveting, but good."
"I also like a little delving into the psychology of rulers/leaders and how they handle it. It was interesting to watch her strong willed and selfish cousin deteriorate as a ruler of people. I don't think I'll end up keeping this one much longer though."
