My favorite book on the rosary,
By
This review is from: The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries (Paperback)
This is an excellent book on the rosary. The book starts off with some questions that are commonly asked about praying the rosary. Some of the questions are, why do catholics pray to Mary, isn't the rosary vain repitition, what is the purpose of the mysteries, and there are a few other questions as well. The book then goes into ten practical insights for greater devotion these are practical ways to better meditate on the mysteries. In the next section there are scriptural reflections on all twenty mysteries,These help to give us a deeper understanding of each mystery . Also there is an excellent scriptural rosary that contains a verse for meditation on each of the Hail Marys that are prayed. The end of the book contains Pope John Paul II Apostolic letter on the rosary. This book will help you to pray more deeply this powerful prayer.

Wonderful Book On the Rosary,
By
This review is from: The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries (Paperback)
Edward Sri has given us a marvellous compendium of the Mysteries of the Rosary. Each mystery is discussed at lenth and with wonderful theological depth. His scriptural rosary then incorporates everything learned in his more detailed chapters, making for a great devotional book.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who has difficulty concentrating on the mysteries while praying the Holy Rosary.

The Rosary IS biblical - it is the prayers OF THE GOSPEL,
By
This review is from: The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries (Paperback)
If you were Catholic, then you would understand that we do not "worship" anyone but the Holy Trinity. "Hail Mary" is the greeting that Gabriel the Archangel said to Mary when he approached her. In other words, "Hello Mary" Filled with Grace, The Lord is with you (Jesus) Blessed are you among women (BECAUSE GOD CHOSE HER SPECIFICALLY) and Blessed is the fruit of your womb. Mary said yes to God. Have you? We don't worship her, we honor her - (as that is the 5th Commandment) We pray to Mary and the Saints to ask for help. Just as you would ask a living person to "pray for you", we ask our spiritual loved ones to also pray for us because we are not only flesh and blood, but spirit as well. Christ himself taught that we should put love above all else, not judge others. Remember, the last words that Jesus said to John were, "She is now (your) mother, and he is now (your) son. Mary is the mother of the Christian church and we are her children.
Peace and an abundance of Blessings to you!

Helpful Book on Learning to Pray the Scriptural Rosary,
By Joan Collins "Bible Lover" (Wichita) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries (Paperback)
I am leading a Bible study group on the Rosary and Scripture. The "Little Rock" scripture study I was given to use had little substance. I needed something that would fulfill my class's desire to learn some scripture and to relate it to the Rosary. This book will help us tremendously. Dr. Sri's knowledge of Scripture and love of the rosary is evident. He sets out scripture passages, from both the old and new testaments, to explain each mystery of the rosary. There is abundant material for our class to read, research, discuss and meditate on. The book also includes sections on various ways to pray the scriptural rosary, the history of the rosary and the writings of several popes on the rosary. The book is devout, scripturally sound, informative and easy to read. I am grateful to have found it on Amazon.

Of the many Rosary booklets available, this one brings me right to the center of the meditations. It offers a fresh look at the mysteries and I do recommend it to you if you're having a dry spell or just wanting something a little different.

This illuminating book takes the reader on a journey through the Bible by applying scripture to saying the Rosary. It is beautifully written and a joy to read. The author brings to the reader great depth and understanding to each decade and mystery of the Rosary. If one had never read scripture before, this would be a wonderful overview and an inspiration to further study of the Bible.

This review is from: The New Rosary in Scripture: Biblical Insights for Praying the 20 Mysteries (Paperback)
This book gives the reader insights into the history of the Rosary and its prayer uses. The Rosary is one of the best ways to offer honor and glory to Jesus. This book makes clear that Catholics do NOT pray to Mary. She, being the first Christian, is a great model and intercessor. The author presents thorough responses to some of the compaints about the Rosary. This author quotes John Paul II the Great. The Rosary is not a rote response but one of prayerful meditation upon the life of our Lord. Good buy!

as a child I learn to pray the rosary but it is only recently that I made an effort to pray the rosary as I always thought it was not necessary as Jesus is the only one we need to know love and serve but after glancing through this book I have come to realise how important it is to pray the rosary and how much it relates to accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour, Now that I have a copy of my own I will make sure I read every page.

This book is an excellent resource on the rosary. It has an apologetic section which answers basic questions on devotion to Mary and the importance of praying the rosary. It also has a meditation on each of the twenty mysteries of the rosary, a scriptural rosary for each set of mysteries and John Paul II's Rosarium Virginis Mariae, in it's entirety. It is an invaluable resource as a source of reflection, and as a jumping off point for the really important part, praying the rosary on your own and coming to your own reflections on each mystery.
