New Scimitar Foam Boomerangs - Night Strobe Boomerang with LED lights!

The boomerang is poorly built. Within about 2 minutes of play the lights started popping out of the foam. The foam design is also very susceptible to wind - the slightest breeze will prevent the toy from returning.

Another annoyance is that the boomerang does not come fully ready out of the box. You have to tune it by twisting each of the three "wings".

I've heard great things about the company's other, more traditional wooden boomerangs from friends. I'd recommend you pick one of those up instead.

Getting this boomerang to come back was pretty easy, we just had to twist the arms of the boomerang and throw it lightly (like the directions say). It's super easy to use (just click the middle button to alternate between ON/OFF/Strobe settings). The strobe setting is awesome and looks spectacular at night..

Hot:Light boomerang that my 9 year old cousin could throw, lights are extremely bright (LED), it comes BACK!
Cool: Left or right handed (depending on how you twist the foam arms), cool design
Not so hot: Short range (10 yards, though this would be cool for a gym).

This boomerang is terrible. The lights worked for only one minute, and it doesn't come back at all. Its warped and is not a quality product. Don't buy it.

First off if you want a boomerang get a plastic or wooden one. This is foam and hardly flies. If you can get the thing to come back to you, your probably god himself. After the first few throws all of the led lights broke off from their wiring. The LED coverings are plastic and pop out after each throw. Not worth your money!

These boomerangs are great, provided you know what to expect and add a couple of tweaks. We love them! Most boomerangs require tuning, and foam types especially so - and they don't hold a set, so they have to be tweaked fairly often. This just means turning up the ends so they have some positive angle of attack (very simple: if you're right handed, hold the boomerang belly down at eye level, look head on at the wingtip and rotate the side at your right upward; then do the same for the other two wings). As for the plastic bulb caps: just add a drop of superglue between cap and foam as a prevention against coming undone. Finally, the batteries may not make a tight contact, and the lights can go out on impact or even with a hard throw. Easily fixed: cut a circle of plastic from a milk jug or any such plastic and put it in the battery compartment to tighten the connection between the battery and lid. These are toys to play with in the dark. As such, they do very, very well with the attention mentioned. Also, boomerangs must be thrown a certain way, usually 45 degrees off the wind and upright rather than layed over (horizontal) - not at all like a frisbee. This takes a little practice. If you want a long distance, super-flying 'rang, this would not be the best choice...but it's great fun and very safe for what it is designed for. On the first try the plastic led covers fell off, than one of the led lights broke.
My God son was very unhappy on Christmas day! Played in the dark for five min. and had to stop due to the plastic covers coming off and a light went out.
If you buy one take the time to gluethe plastic covers on!!

very unhappy.....though it would be nice to play out side at night with this boomerang....but it fell apart after five min.

Looks neat out of the box, but neither me or my kids could get it to fly like a boomerang. Also purchased 2 other simular products that worked well. LED Lights feel out first day useing it.

When we took the boomerang out of its packaging and turned it on, we found that one of the lights was not working. We sent it back. Meanwhile, the price went up here, so I never did order a replacement. Still, it seems like a fun toy and it's on our list of things to get at some point.
