Jennifer Clement 's New and Selected Poems,
By Andrea Noel "ang" (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: New and Selected Poems (Paperback)
Jennifer Clement's new works in New and Selected Poems secure your attention right away. You will want to read these enigmatic poems over and over. Personally, I keep going back to "The Woodsman." And you will want to share with other readers the unusual playfulness of "Making Love in Spanish." Of the selections from earlier books, I think I am most taken with her poems from Newton's Sailor, especially those that deal with Einstein and Elsa, the daughter he gave away.
If you are not familiar with her poems, be prepared for a new poetic world in the engaging images and striking objects that Clement sets in her stanza rooms. |
