About the Author

Theatre writer and director, John Russell Brown was an Associate Director of the National Theatre in London for over fifteen years. He has directed plays all around the world, most recently in the US and India. He has published widely, including What is Theatre (1997), Writing for Performance (1996) and The Oxford Illustrated History of the Theatre (1995).
