5.0 out of 5 stars great for ingrown nails!
This is great for ingrown toenails or when you cut them a little too close. Works really well to provide quick relief and, thanks in part to this, I've never had an infection or some of the other problems a lot of my friends who get ingrown toenails have had. Always keep a bottle handy for just my feet!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good product
I have skin cracks on my thumbs from dry skin. I have used the Band-aid liquid bandage, Nexcare and New skin. Out of all three of these products, New Skin is the worst. It smells awful, really strong, and it does not last two seconds on my skin. I would not buy this product again. I am actually about to throw the new bottle away. Please try the Nexcare product...

It smells awful, really strong, and it does not last two seconds on my skin. I would not buy this product again. I am actually about to throw the new bottle away. Please try the Nexcare product first. The Band-aid product is the best but you have to use applicators which you run out of before the product is gone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Peels Off Too Soon, Better Alternatives Available, October 19, 2010
This review is from: New-Skin Liquid Bandage, First Aid Liquid Antiseptic, 1-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I used this product after receiving a number of small cuts on my hand, and I have to agree with the negative reviews. Having used both Nexcare and Band-Aid liquid bandages, both of which last days after application, I expected New Skin to perform similarly. I bought it because neither Nexcare nor Band-Aid were in stock at my local pharmacy. Applying New Skin stings, unlike the other two products, but that was to be expected given the antiseptic it contains. What was not expected, however, was having to reapply the product several times a day. After washing your hands a couple of times, New Skin begins to peel-off, at which point the application is no longer waterproof and needs to be peeled off completely and reapplied. While it has a strong odor, I wouldn't stop using New Skin simply for that, but the short duration of the seal will keep me from ever using it again as long as another band of liquid bandage is available.

1.0 out of 5 stars Smells DISGUSTING, January 14, 2010
This review is from: New-Skin Liquid Bandage, First Aid Liquid Antiseptic, 1-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
Bought this because my fingers were cracked and peeling from a combination of cold weather and constant hand-washing. I'd used the Nexcare product before but Wal-Mart didn't have it so I grabbed a bottle of New Skin. I utterly regret it. It smells unbelievably vile; a combination of antiseptic and cloves. The smell is so overpowering it gave me a headache. I plan to call the toll free number on the box to give the manufacturer a piece of my mind, then I will have them give me a refund or I'll take it back to Wally World. I'd prefer the former because I don't see why I should be inconvenienced because of their nasty product.
If you have only a split in your skin, try superglue. I've used that before with great success and only purchased this crap because several layers of skin peeled off my fingers in places and I wanted greater protection and coverage, however I'd rather be in pain that suffer with this awful product!

5.0 out of 5 stars disinfects and it seals out infection, February 21, 2012
This review is from: New-Skin Liquid Bandage, First Aid Liquid Antiseptic, 1-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I've covered some sizable cuts with this stuff. When you have a big open cut, or even a razer cut, you don't want to just lock out air from it. That can actually be detrimental if you are cutting off air from bacteria, an infection can be caused instead of prevented. For that reason I would not use a liquid bandage without a disinfectant. It is too air-tight of a seal. Some of the more permanent liquid bandages are too permanent. All I want to be able to do is disinfect the wound, get it to dry out, then let it air out and heal naturally.

I don't want a 4 day seal of plastic imbedded in my wound.

New skin also has a long shelf life. It doesn't dry out. I've had one bottle for about 10 years and covered dozens of cuts with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars First aid for those little cuts that are hard to bandage!, February 8, 2012
This review is from: New-Skin Liquid Bandage, First Aid Liquid Antiseptic, 1-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I hate those little nicks and cuts on your fingers that you bump 20 times a day and feel the pain. New-Skin Liquid Bandage is the best solution I have found. It dries quickly to provide a protective cover for the wound and it is antiseptic, flexible, water proof and lets your skin breathe. Your little cut, blister or split dry skin doesn't hurt as bad and heals faster.

One application lasts for several days and even through showering or washing your hands. It will keep out dirt and germs. This is a great product and you should keep some in your home and in your first aid kit. It is the bandage that stays on and keeps on working.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for covering small scratches and abrasions., November 8, 2011

If you are looking for something that does not sting or that you can paint it on and forget this is not going to be the right product for you.
New-skin is meant to be used on smaller areas and re-applied through out the day. It does have a strong smell similar to nail polish but the smell does dissipate.

As a Massage Therapist my hands are very important. I am both accident prone and a cat owner so small scratches and abrasions on my fingers and hands are an everyday reality.
New-skin helps protect me and everyone I come into contact from possible infection. I re-apply it after I wash my hands between each massage. The new-skin does stay on through out the hour session even with use of lotion. At the end of the day I can remove the dried 'bandaid' and let the area breath.
New-skin works for what I need it to: saving me from having to wear a traditional bandaid and gloves, to protect it, when I have an area of broken skin.

I have also used New-skin on my feet when new shoes rubbed my skin raw. That did sting quite a bit but after the application dried it protected the area and there was no pain.

The only real downside to this product is it doesn't work so well with freely bleeding areas. Usually a little tissue over the area to help slow the bleeding is enough to do the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for hangnails, July 24, 2011
This review is from: New-Skin Liquid Bandage, First Aid Liquid Antiseptic, 1-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
Yes, this product does have a strong smell, but it works great. I don't apply it on my fingers before eating, because of the smell, which smells kind of like nail polish. New Skin is great for healing hangnails and papercuts, especially those painful ones. I often begin to see healing overnight and the hangnails are usually healed in a day or two. For other bruises, it is best for small ones that are not too deep. Works great in areas where a bandaid won't stick very well. It stays on for days in most areas. However, for fingertips, you will have to apply it about 3 times a day, but that is still better than trying to get a bandaid to stay on the fingertips, plus you can get your hands wet and you don't have to change the bandaid. I have also used it for small cuts on my feet before going to the beach, it keeps the wound clean and I can go in the water! So don't worry about the smell, think of the freedom you will have by being able to get the wound wet and not change your bandaid!

One of my family members has eczema on the hand and we use this on it and it works great to keep it from getting worse and protects the skin from water.
