As a youth services librarian, a lot of crap comes across my desk. "New Socks" however is the total opposite of crap. It is so wonderful! Not only is humourous and bright for kids, but parents/readers will get a big laugh. One of the most difficult things to do is to create material for children that is just as entertaining for the adults having to watch/read it. "New Socks" totally achieves this. My favorite part is "Wood floor! WHOAH!" Because, I TOTALLY still slide across my wood floor in new socks!

This is a beautiful book featuring wonderful mod design. My very young babe loved the bright big pictures. But let's be honest, for children who don't read yet, it's all about how much enthusiasm the parent or caregiver has for reading the book. If you enjoy reading it, your child will. This happy and energetic little book is sure to be loved by kids again and again, in large part because mom, dad, brother, sister, friend, babysitter or anyone else with the ability to read will enjoy sharing it aloud.

I think everyone should read New Socks over and over and over. And over.

Bob Shea has worked with PBS Kids and Comedy Central, and is now a freelance art director for Nickelodeon. New Socks is elementary in nature and yet fresh for young readers. At this young age, shapes and sounds play more of a significant role in the their lives. This is a perfect teaching tool for the young ones and lively with color and the straightforwardness of it all will draw them like bees to honey.

New Socks rocks! Okay, I admit it, Bob is a pal... still, New Socks rocks! Leon says it best on the back of the book: Imagine the best book ever. This is better.

These new socks make me itchy. Itchy for more books by Mr. Shea.

I bought this book for my 4 year old who is obsessed with socks. She likes the book but it's my 1.5 year old who it really appeals to. She brings it over to me multiple times a day to read to her.

Awesome artistic work and wacky theme that kids like. Good for kids 2-4 or older if learning to read. Check out the youtube video and Bob Shea's other videos....they are pretty good.

So, Leon has new socks. Orange must be his size!

The book is largely just him playing around with his socks - not being scared on the big kids slide, talking on his "sock phone" to the president, that sort of thing. It's the enthusiasm that makes this book worth having. Definitely check it out :)

This book is so much fun to read and when I read it to my kids they get out their orange socks and slide all over. It is so much fun to watch them. Great book!!!

My children LOVE this book. It is charming and fun. The graphics are bold, so it is easily enjoyed my smaller kids; however, the text it funny, which our 5 year old loved.
