4.0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 STARS: A NEAR PERFECT MASTERPIECE
I first heard this cd by Los Amigos Invisibles at work thanksto my boss. It really caught me by surprise. Great dance music fromVenezuela of all places! It is very funky and very beautiful. 1 reviewer called " Mi Linda" a cross between Armand van Helden and Gipsy Kings. How about adding some Daft Punk to it? "Mi Linda" is a classic and I wish the...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's an OK disc, but not as good as A TYPICAL AUTOCTONAL BAND
This disc has some good tracks, however, it does not compare with their first CD, A TYPICAL AUTOCTONAL VENEZUELAN BAND. That CD has to be in your collection. It relates more with the dance and ska scene, you could find it at the official website of the band, you won't find it anywhere else, not even here.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2 STARS: A NEAR PERFECT MASTERPIECE, June 16, 2000
I first heard this cd by Los Amigos Invisibles at work thanksto my boss. It really caught me by surprise. Great dance music fromVenezuela of all places! It is very funky and very beautiful. 1 reviewer called " Mi Linda" a cross between Armand van Helden and Gipsy Kings. How about adding some Daft Punk to it? "Mi Linda" is a classic and I wish the track was longer. "El Disco Anal" is also very danceable. "Cachete a Cachete" echoes Steely Dan. It sounds as if Don Fagen and Walter Becker teamed up with Los Amigos: a gorgeous jazzy tune. Why am I giving this cd 4 1/2 stars? I started to enjoy everything here until "Balada de Chusy" which hits a sour note. Skip the track and enjoy "The New Sound Of The Venezuela Gozadera". I will still place this in my Top 10 best of 2000. This is a great discovery! Great cover photo-oh so '60s! Why can't the variety shows of Univision, Telemundo or Galavision promote a sensational group like this?

5.0 out of 5 stars pure adrenaline, May 3, 2000

This album is a smorgasbord of delight. Starting with the aptly-titled "Ultra-Funk" it grooves from one track to the next, and if you aren't on your feet by the middle of "Mi Linda", check yourself for a pulse. The tracks are funky, sylish, and original. Don't worry if you don't speak Spanish--the cover photo speaks a thousand words. This is the best stuff to come out of Venezuela for ages. Buy it. Your feet will thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too Funky!, July 11, 2000

This band is the Jamiroqui of Latin America. Los Amigos combine a retro seventies funk sound and the diaspora of Latin American sound to create an incredible Latin-seventies funk! The lyrics range from sensual to hilarious! Highly recommended!

This album is straight crazy hotness! I love how the can blend the dance, funk, acid jazz, and Latin percussion in the music. Ponerte en cuatro is just hot! The funny, sexy lyrics make it really cool too! If you want something new and unique, check this disc out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, September 3, 2004
This review is from: The New Sound Of The Venezuelan Gozadera (Audio CD)
What a sexy album this is. It's truly sad that some of the best Latin bands are not very famous in the United States. I'm sick of hearing of Paulina Rubio, Thalia, and Ricky Martin. Especially when there are bands like Los Amigos Invisibles, producing such great music, with this edgy sexy style of play. This Album is just a joy to listen to. I recommend Los Piojos from Argentina different style of play but also very cool music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Infectious, danceable, and habit-forming, April 20, 2000

This CD is my first choice when I want something to get me moving. No bad mood can resist these funky grooves, especially "Sexy" and "Groupie" and the unapologetic machismo of "Ponerte en Cuatro" always makes me laugh. Even my friends who don't speak Spanish dig it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Proud to be Venezuelan, April 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The New Sound Of The Venezuelan Gozadera (Audio CD)
Few Venezuelan have got international fame. Desorden Publico and international projects with Venezuelan members (King Chango, Dogon), have got this internationalization. But none of them have gone as far as Los Amigos Invisibles. Knavery and humor is the constant sign here, while music is full of lounge, 70's disco, caribean rhythms, trip-hop, etc. "The New Sound of The Venezuelan Gozadera" is not a record to take seriously. And if you have the posibility to see them live, then go. You will not appreciate their talent more trully and fully than here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Omnipresent, March 5, 2002
I think there's a lot to be said for Dance Pop that doesn't take itself too seriously, and yet is sincere in its intent. There's a lot of fluffy dance-pop out there--Britney, N'Sync, Destiny's Child, just to name a few. But what makes LAI so special is that they sound like they're enjoying themselves. LAI's lust for life, parties, sex, and women is extremely contagious.

At times they sound a bit like the disco act Chic. Sometimes they sound a bit like a young Prince. Other times, they sound like Deee-lite before they discovered the Rave Culture. A lot of people say they sound like Jamiroquai, and if that's the case, they outdo Jamiroquai at their own game. Their music is whimsical, funky, witty, sexy, perverse, stylish, and carefree without being condescending. If you're looking for Latin music that captures the flair and energy of the Latin culture without the cheese of Ricky Martin or Enrique Iglesias, this is for you.

Los Amigos Invisibles are not going to change the world, but they sure do make it a happier place to live in during this time of strife. And one final note--YOU MUST SEE THESE GUYS LIVE. They are easily one of the best live acts out there, and one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic of modern true latin-dance-funk, May 12, 2003
This review is from: The New Sound Of The Venezuelan Gozadera (Audio CD)
I dont have too much to say, the album speaks for itself, pure genious. I;ve seen them in concert in Margarita, Venezuela. New York, and Boston. If you can see them live, they are AMAZING.
