intriguing insight into compositional activity in the UK,

A fascinating look at compositional activity in the UK during the early eighties via a series of absorbing interviews with prominent living composers.I regularly return to Griffith's interviews and discover something fresh.
Certainly,there are some odd omissions (most notably Michael Finnissy)which looked misjudged at the time of publication and even more so with the benifit of hindsight but there's plenty to savour.Also worth noting are important figures like Nigel Osborne and Robert Saxton who have momentarily (one hopes)dissapeared from the main view.Sadly,Tim Souster and Stephen Oliver (the fluent opera composer of operas)are no longer with us. |
