Fun and sturdy toy. Plays a lot of different song and has held up well to holiday travel with a 5 year old. My daughter did get bored with it rather quickly though.

Someone else complained about the lack of info on this toy and I have to agree. The violin itself It looks good but the string's bow is actually stretched elastic. Rubbing the bow across the strings makes absolutely NO noise. You must make the noise with your fingers on the neck of the violin. Small children don't have the fine motor skills for this. My daughter grabs the neck and the violin plays one note until she lets go and grabs it again. I demonstrated the proper technique to her but she got frustrated and didn't want to play with it anymore. Purchase a toy violin that makes music when the bow touches the strings. To play THIS violin, small children have to be able to work one hand to touch the strings on the neck of the violin and use the other hand to move the bow (that does absolutely nothing) across the string. All they want to do is hold the neck and use the bow to make "music". Because it is pretty to look at, i simply placed it on top of the toy piano in her room for decoration. Don't buy this toy for anything other than that--decoration.

Looks great and pleased my 2 year-old who wanted to have a violin like his big brothers. But the toy violin plays songs all out of tune so my child is hearing music all played off key! Not something a young ear needs to hear! I plan on removing the batteries asap!

There was not enough information about the toy and I wish I would have never ordered it. It was not what I thought it should be. My son played with it for the first day he got it and was done with it. The receipt mentioned nothing about returns so I was stuck with it.
