Mr. Johnston has an execllent voice, he should have just read the Bible with out the voice effects and background music. The volume of the background music changed often and is at times quite distracting.

I spend 2 hours driving to and from work each day. Listening to this dramatized Bible puts me in a remarkably serene mood. The Word comes alive and it's like listening to live theater. I'm so glad I have this Bible. Thank you Stephen Johnston.

This dramatized and well-narrated New Internation Version of the Bible is the most "user-friendly" way to absorb God's Word I've ever encountered. I highly recommend this (and the cassette version) to all of my students! --Bonnie Fraser, Teacher/Founder-Bible Alive!

I must be the only dissenting voice anywhere regarding the production of this audio version of scripture. I don't dispute that Mr. Johnston has a beautiful voice. However, I find that the production of this recording is very poor. It is narrated too fast, with hardly a breath between verses, chapters and books. I doubt this is how Mr. Johnston actually read it, but rather an editing room issue. A previous reviewer eluded to some editing splices where errors were corrected with voice overs. The number and quality of voice overs is distracting. Some of the voice overs are obviously not even Mr. Johnston. Additionally, the background music, in my opinion is obtrusive. At points, the music is distracting. In the early part of the book of Psalms for example, the music shifts from quiet and serene, to climactic concert pieces. I found myself almost paying attention more to the music, trying to guess the piece.

All in all, I would not recommend this version.

If you want to understand the KJV and still find the poetic magic of the English translation the NKJV is for you. Wonderful narration by Mr. Stephen Johnston

I got these tapes for my 16th birthday. Since then, I have listened to them over and over, nine times in all. That doesn't matter. Mr Johnston's voice is good and well and shows why the bible is holy. I would recomend people to buy them and cherish them for their holiness.

I would recommend that anyone who ever wanted to "read" the whole Bible will get more than they bargained for. The narrator's reading brings the word literally to life.

I love it. The speaker is a pleasant voice to listen to and the wallet is very nice with a small handle on it. I love it and am so glad that I purchased this wonderful book on CD.

I have several versions of Stephen Johnston's narrations. He has a superb voice. Listening to this Bible makes it more understandable and a pleasure. Each time I listen, I learn more! You can too.
