Book Description

This inclusive language version of the New Testament gives due reverence to the word of God and faithfulness to the original meaning. The translation seeks to address men and women as equals. The change in language and gender does not alter God's message as conveyed in the Bible, but recognizes that a change in our culture and society point up the need for the language of the Bible to reflect that change. Those who translated previous versions had to use the language of their time, which often emerged from a male-dominated society.

Review

Religious Studies Review says: "A long overdue attempt to translate the Bible in the most inclusive language possible. The result is commendable...For the most part the translation is very straightforward and readable." -- Publisher Comments

5.0 out of 5 stars This translation offers a breath of fresh spiritual air., February 11, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The New Testament of the Inclusive Language Bible (Hardcover)
For the Bible to be relevant today it must speak to us in ways we can accept. This is (hopefully) the main reason why there are so many modern translations of the sacred text. Today society is becoming more sensitive to issues of gender equality. For many people, male and female, the patriarchal language of most Bible translations can make it difficult to relate to the text in meaningful ways. Phrases such as "He who would be the greatest among you must be the servant of all," were never intended to imply that only males could be "the greatest among you." This wonderful new Inclusive New Testament seeks to present the inspired text without these cultural biases while still remaining true to the parent texts from which our Bibles are translated. In my opinion, the effort has been a wonderful success. I offer it a 9 rating rather than a 10 because our language itself is weak on this point. We need a new pronoun. This is not the fault of this translation of course.

This is an excellent, readable version of the New Testament taking the inclusive message of Christ to its fullest. The Church is for ALL God's people...now we can read the Word and not feel excluded. AMEN! Remember--WHOSOEVER (John 3:16)

1.0 out of 5 stars A sad, unfortunate attempt to sell books., November 12, 2002
This review is from: The New Testament of the Inclusive Language Bible (Hardcover)
Please be aware, this is not an acurate tranlation of the original text. The actual text has been changed - "culturized" to be more politically correct. This version is not trustworthy, as it is not what God really said...

Please pray for the editors and publishers.
