This review is from: The New Testament with the Joseph Smith Translation (Paperback)
Lays out the four gospels in four columns in chronological order of events, with Joseph Smith translation changes indicated by italics and cross-out. A wonderful way to study the gospels. A definite must for serious gospel students.

The chronological ordering of the Four Gospels is pure genius, November 4, 2011
This review is from: The New Testament with the Joseph Smith Translation (Paperback)
I love this book.
For starters, this version takes the King James Version of the Bible and combines the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) and puts them in four columns, side-by-side, and arranges the story of Jesus into a chronological story, from birth to death, leaving out nothing. That alone - even without the JST content - makes this version of the New Testament far superior to the traditional, chronologically-disjointed version in the Four Gospels.
The resulting, combined content is also broken into sections (think mini-chapters) with headers, to help organize the story even further.
The rest of the New Testament is also included, but it is shown in the same layout as a standard KJV of the Bible.
On top of that, the JST additions (which are through the entire work, not just the Four Gospels) are also very well done. The original KJV text that Smith removed is still there with strikethrough markup, and any Smith additions or replacement words are in bold and italic, inline in the same text. It makes it perfectly clear which text is which, keeping the initial integrity of the KJV text while showing the JST changes inline and making it readable either way (JST or non-JST).
The only complaints I could maybe have with this book are:
1) The footnotes in the standard LDS New Testament are not included - it's just the text.
2) It's too big to carry with (or custom bind the pages into) my standard, LDS King James Version Bible. I wish there was a version of this work that I could carry in a standard LDS scripture tote bag...
Bottom line: This is the best JST compilation I've seen out there. I highly recommend it to all, but it is especially for those who really want to see the entirety of the work Joseph Smith did. (If you're not a Mormon, this concisely spells out his work on the New Testament for anyone to objectively review for oneself.)
Side note: The authors also did a version of Joseph Smith's Old Testament translation, which is worth considering on its own merits.

Excellent reference book, January 30, 2011
This review is from: The New Testament with the Joseph Smith Translation (Paperback)
I like the parallel column layout of the four gospels. The insertion and deletion marks for Joseph Smith Translation changes make this a very effective study book.
I also like the large amounts of white space in the pages because I can write study notes and ideas in the open spaces for further thought and later recollection.
