Great cleaner!, April 21, 2011
This review is from: New Trent CD-7810 Professional Ultrasonic Watch, Jewelry, CD and Eyeglass Cleaner (Electronics)
I completely agree with the previous reviewer. This is a great machine for making jewelry sparkle. I use it for a number of items, in particular my gold and silver coin collection, some of the silver gets a bit tarnished over time and I just place it on the cleaner for 3 or 4 cycles and they come sparkling as if they had just been minted the previous day! Highly recommended.

The CD7810 Ultrasonic Cleaner is a nifty tool that works as well as one could hope!, July 5, 2011
This review is from: New Trent CD-7810 Professional Ultrasonic Watch, Jewelry, CD and Eyeglass Cleaner (Electronics)
Overall, I must say that I'm very satisfied with the CD7810 Ultrasonic Cleaner and would give it my wholehearted endorsement.
Pros:
-The machine is self is stylish and sleek. In particular, I like the clear window which allows for viewing of the cleaning as it happens!
-I love how easy it is to use this machine--literally just add water! So far I have tried cleaning wedding bands/engagement rings, watches, toothbrushes, and eyeglasses. I was amazed to see how much dirt and other particles were removed from my items after using just the default 3 minute cleaning cycle with regular old tap water.
-The accessories that come with the machine all seem to be of good construction, although I haven't tested them out yet (watch stand, basket for smaller items, and CD/DVD adapter).
-The programmable interface is easy to use.
Cons:
-About the only negative thing I could say about the CD7810 is that it is rather small (although that can certainly be a positive thing as well when considering storage). I was only able to put the bristle end of an ordinary-length tootbrush into the machine rather than its entire length. This is not a dealbreaker, but you should know that anything longer than about the width of a regular pair of eyeglasses just might be too long to wash fully-submerged with this machine (you can, however, wash just a portion with part of your item outside of the cleaning chamber).
In summary, the CD7810 is just what I was hoping for in a product of this nature. It cleans VERY effectively and is super quick and easy (just water) to use! You can even add a small amount of detergent or hand soap for more challenging set-in dirt and grime.

Great, but short-lived, so not-so-great (update: added stars), November 16, 2011
This review is from: New Trent CD-7810 Professional Ultrasonic Watch, Jewelry, CD and Eyeglass Cleaner (Electronics)
I've bought two of these machines in less than a year. The first one lasted around 5 months. Moisture ruins the electronics, and so when they moved the buttons to the front instead of top, I bought this one, as it appeared to be an upgraded model. Or so I thought,...
This one lasted exactly 27 days. Used it maybe 10 times, and the buttons are already non-responsive. I still have a red light, so hopefully it will dry out. Even if it does dry out, I have maybe 2 or 3 times to use it, before it's totally useless. (that's what happened last time)
cons: Bad design, in that it is not built to last. No consideration to the moisture being locked out of sensitive areas. Will not last if you actually use it.
Pros: It worked crazy good for a very short time.
I'm sad it's such junk in design. If only they sealed the electronics away from the damaging water vapor, I'd have been 5 star impressed. Good thing I hesitated in this reveiw.

Update:
After leaving a 1-star review, I decided to take the machine apart, afterall, It didn't work, so I had nothing to loose~!
First, let me say, I'm absolutely not an electrician. I can barely plug things in without getting shocked. I'm pretty meticulous about cleaning though, so maybe this worked in my favor,...
I took it apart, and sprayed contact cleaner (got it at walmart $5) all over the button area, which didn't work, as well as everywhere else because i thought it was kinda fun to spray, and it was hella hard to open the machine where the buttons were.
I also got a Q-tip wet with CLR cleaner, and cleaned all the thingys on the thingy. Sorry, I have no freekin idea what they are, nor what to call them.
Then, I got some silicon sealant (for aquariums) and put it all over every open edge, and put it back together doing my best to seal out water like it was a submarine and my life depended on it. (I'm quite determined sometimes.)
It works!!! It's back to kickin the heck out of grimey stuff, and works GREAT. I don't know for how long, but I've used it a dozen times so far.
So, I gave it 2 more stars, since I had to basically surgically enhance it to keep it alive. I'll update again later.
I would now say sure, go ahead and buy one of these-but only if you are down to completely dismantle it, and seal the inner electronic components away from any water including condensation. If you don't, It really wont be worth it,...
