5.0 out of 5 stars Works well, looks great
I have been looking for a long time for something like this. The other reveiewer must have not installed the spout correctly. It is easy to do.

We have a heavy glass carboy filled with water sitting on it with no issues. We use it daily and my kids do as well.

Hello.

Although I been purchaseing products for well over decade from Amazon, I never written a review for Amazon before.. till now.
Just an awful product.

This is a very cheaply made, badly engineered and aweful quality control for such simple device costing so much for what it is.
As soon as I set this up, it sprung a leak from the spoket that connects to main body of the dispenser.
I tightened the plastic nut that holds the spigot to the stainless steel reservoir as much as I can to stop the leak.
Apparently you can't...The provided rubber gasket(washer) that's designed to prevent leak is "not soft enough" to do its intended job, so it's letting water out about drop per second.
Also, because there isn't any built in "stopper/blocker", if you happen to even just tap the spigot accidently, spigot gets loose and water is leaking everywhere. This is a cost cutting, lack of real world product testing and poor engineering at its best...

Later, I also found another slow leak from the reservoir base.
The reservoir is made of what looks like thick sheet metal, machine rolled body and stamped on base.
The leak is coming from where the body meets the base.

Considering the risk of more copies being defective as mine was, I will not, can not recommend this product to anyone.

EDIT: 7/18/2011
I wouldn't go as far as to say disregard all five star reviews.
However, I just want to point out that couple of five star reviews are "most certainly suspicious."
EDIT: 8/23/2011
The two obviously "funded" reviews been removed since this morning.
I won't guess who or why they did this, because I don't need to....just awful

EDIT: 9/22/2011
To FINALLY address the possibility of faulty installations;

You really can not improperly set this up...How many sane ways can anyone install this product? It's like Lego set for three year olds, there's only ONE logical way to assemble this thing...

If there ever were some other weird unorthodox ways of assembling it, I would have tried it that too, just to stop the leak and deal with it...but there wasn't...
I would much prefered to have this thing work then to waste my time and energy of going through the trouble of repacking and sending this thing back.

I don't know about current copy, but when I purchased this product back in 2008, it was badly engineered using very VERY cheap defective "imported" parts.
I simply wrote the review based on M.Y. own personal experience ONE particular copy of this product, the company behind it , and people who work for the company who produced this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Leaky mess, December 1, 2009

Very disappointed. Set this up on my countertop with a towel underneath. Noticed a couple hours later that the towel was completely soaked. Lifted up the base and there was a constant drip coming from the back of the dispenser at the bottom edge. Apparently it hadn't been sealed properly. Wasted water and wasted time waiting for this poorly made product to arrive. Was excited about having an alternative to a ceramic crock, but guess that's the way I'll have to go now. Too bad they are all made in China today, both the stainless and ceramic. Shame.

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but it drips. :(, February 12, 2011

I purchased this item as an alternative to the heavy (and breakable) ceramic crocks for having an easy dispenser for my kids to get their own water throughout the day. I use a New Wave Enviro 3 gallon bottle on top, which is nicely proportioned to the crock. I agree that it keeps the water nice and cool, but it IS the dead of winter in MN. My biggest qualm is that no matter how we tighten or adjust the spout, there is a tiny, yet persistent leak. It is a bit pricey for the quality...but we kept it anyway. And we use it. I just wouldn't rush to recommend it to a friend, or you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enviro Stainless Dispenser, August 4, 2011

I have just purchased the second one of these because the first one worked out so well. Our housewater comes from a brook so one of these is for purchased drinking water and the other is at the sink with water we obtain from our daughter's home. Our daughter's water is fine but often has strong chlorine odor and nothing ruins a cup of tea more than a whiff of that.

They do not leak if the washer is put on according to the directions, and nothing cleans like stainless.. Up to now we have used crocks but I became concerned that there might be lead in that process seeing as they were made in China.

Great product. It's a little smaller than it appears. It looks just a little goofy with a 5 gallon tank on top.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good countertop dispenser, May 8, 2011
This review is from: New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Water Dispenser
9 inches round at the base, hold about 1 1/2 gallons, works well with 3 gallon bottle. Easy to fill without spilling water. Comes with basic black plastic valve that can lock in the open position. Make sure to position dispenser in proper place before filling, can be heavy and difficult to move if full. Stainless steel blends with most interior designs,is lighter than ceramic dispensers and unbreakable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, January 7, 2012
This review is from: New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Water Dispenser
I received this for Christmas and was thrilled to finally have something that would hold a large amount of purified water. I also was given a 3 gallon glass water jug that sits on top. Within a couple of weeks, though, I carelessly used a pan I was filling with water to flip the spigot on. It snapped a part off. I could still use it, but not as comfortably as before. I wrote the customer service people and told them what had happened and within a couple of days they had sent me a new spigot! It was not a faulty spigot, simply my roughness that had broken it. I've learned my lesson, but not at my own expense. Pretty great customer service, I'd say.

So, this is my second spigot. My daughter, who gave this as a gift, also has a New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Water Dispenser. None of these three different spigots has had any kind of a leaking problem. My daughter even carried her back and forth to the store to fill hers, so it received some josling around.

I'm very happy and would recommend this to everyone.

I'm so surprised to read any negative reviews for this product. We love ours - I was just searching to find the best price for one I will be gifting for Christmas.
Ours has never leaked a drop and I've had it going on three years. I haven't treated it gently either. Before we had filtered water in our home, I used to lug it out to the local water filtration station and was always worried that carrying it around full was going to cause damage.
We use it with the ceramic lid and keep it in the fridge for a nice cold supply of filtered water. It's great for kids, as far as reach.
Again, we love our New Wave Enviro water dispenser. It keeps plastic from our drinking water -I think everyone should have one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too small to fit in standard wooden floor frame, November 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Water Dispenser
This crock looks good (hasn't leaked yet for me) but it is too small to fit the standard crock wood frame and now it's precariously sitting, worrying me that my little kids might bump into it and it falling on them. I succumbed to the "customers bought this together" pitch and the two items don't go together and one that does fit isn't showing up in my search.
