NEW WAVE CLASSIC.,

This review is from: New Wave (W/Dvd) (Spec) (Audio CD)
from the cover art that screams (literally)classic to the ten perfect songs to the top production. this is not only a punk classic but a rock classic altogether. i really think that anybody in their right mind that liked the band's old stuff will love this cd. and by the way it's a GREAT dvd of a FULL show. not clips, interviews etc. but the real deal.a bit pricy in amazon but worth it.

Buy This For The DVD! And CD!,

This CD / DVD combo is absolutely amazing. The album (which took me a little while to get into) is fantastic. I'm not going to get into the old AM! compared to the new AM! argument 'cause I like them all. I always enjoy how Tom says things and I love to hear what he has to say. But you can read the regular New Wave album reviews for info on this album. The DVD is so so good. The sound quality is amazing. Everyone's instruments (and vocals) are super clear and full of life. It's like listening to a CD. The crowd isn't the greatest but they get into it on some songs, like Walking Is Still Honest and We Laugh At Danger (you can watch the youtube video of Walking to see what I'm talking about). The setlist mixes up the old and the new and every song is great. I'd buy this for the DVD alone. Outstanding! With their 4th studio album "New Wave#57, the Florida rock-punkers Against Me, is a notch above their last album , the excellent "Searching For A Former Clarity". Tom Gabel and the boys came out with 10 dynamic rockers. Produced by Butch Vig. The album starts off with the title track, "Up The Cuts" with some good power chords. The hit "Thrash Unreal" #11, "White People For Peace", anorher hit in "Stop" #27, their mid-tempo rocker "Borne On The FM Waves Of The Heart", with Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara, this is a great song. They pick up the pace and wattage with "Piss And Vinegar", some fine guitar by James Bowman. Then comes the extremly fast "Americans Abroad", then the lumbering "Animal", with some fine guitar work again by James. They finish the album with "The Ocean", an excellent piece of music. You could see Against Me changing here. The DVD is an excellent live concert, live at the Key Club in L.A., Decemeber 14,2006, great picture. 15 tunes. The Band: Tom Gabel-lead vocals, guitar James Bowman- guitar, bgvocals Andrew Seward- bass, bgvocals Warren Oakes - drums, bgvocals |
