I have just been so impressed with this band. I look high and low through lots of free music on amazon sifting for gems and I found "pulling on a line" by this band, got some extra money and bought one of their full albums and found six new favorite songs on it but loved the entire album. I bought two other albums that same night and same thing. I just bought the last of the old albums I didnt have and now their new one which i waited for anxiously. What a great band. I love the music that can move you in different ways. When I am happy it fills me with warmth and relaxes me and reminds me of good and simple things. When I am sad its the low key melodic music that heals. His voice is beautifully soothing, the lyrics are hauntingly beautiful and lasting and real. This band doesnt feel fake, they make music. True soulfelt music. It is beautiful. I love this band and hope that maybe one day i see them come on over to colorado. This particular album has some uplifting songs with a more upbeat feel but also the nice easy going and very soothing sounds. The last band i went crazy for was the generationals, but this band has the props of being the only band I know of with FIVE albums i have loved. The only single person I have that much music I love to is Nina Simone. Incredible. I enjoy what you all are doing and hope you grow and continue doing what you love and always put out the stuff that moves you. It is noticable and remarkable. Many blessings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Smooth trip April 3, 2012
Format:Audio CD
New Wild Everywhere is the first real release of spring, and it feels like Spring. Songs like Cornflower Blue and Ballad of a Fisherman's Wife feel straight out of pure Americana. Who knew they hailed from the Great North? This is an excellent followup to Lost Channels and the bonus disc of acoustic studio tracks make for a great pairing. Nada Surf did this in February and it makes for a well rounded release that shows you all sides.

Job well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top 5 album of the year October 22, 2012

I consume a lot of music. I appreciate singles and their ability to create buzz around an artist and get radio play. And where a single is a short-story an album is a novel. I value the collective work of artists and what they put forth in albums. The newest album by Great Lake Swimmers 'New Wild Everywhere' is one of my top 5 this year. The movement from start to finish and from song to song creates constant engagement. There's continuity in the musical styling but enough variation to keep the listener intrigued. It's quickly become the top album I recommend to friends. I've liked the work from Great Lake Swimmers in the past but haven't ever considered myself a big fan. This newest album has caused me to not only become a bigger fan but also go back and give their older work another (closer) listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant listening.
Nice, easy pleasant listening. Perfect CD during a stressful day at work or during a break. If you are first time listener to this group, look into more of their work.

3.0 out of 5 stars New Wild Everywhere is pretty good.
I like this CD but I don't love it. Some CDs after I get them I will listen to them over and over. This was not the case. It wasn't as upbeat as some of their earlier CDs. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Lake Swimmers' album "New Wild Everywhere" is a folk song friend...
Primarily alone, Tony Decker lends his lilting wistful vocals to the country-folk melodies (but he needs to stop reaching for those high notes!). Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Can they make a mediocre album?
After having listened to this band, album after album, I have come to the conclusion that they have no clue how to go about to make a half-assed lame album no matter how hard they... Read more
