5.0 out of 5 stars Provides cogent explanation of wireless communication, August 13, 2009
This review is from: The New World of Wireless: How to Compete in the 4G Revolution (Hardcover)
We now live in a world where communication over telephone wires and telegraph cables is being replaced with a new digital and orbital satellite age of communication without wires or cables. This new wireless technology is having a rapidly expanding impact on business and how business is being conducted. That is why "The New World Of Wireless: How To Compete In The 4G Revolution" by Scott Snyder (President and CEO of Decision Strategies International, Inc.) is so timely and so important, especially for those relatively unfamiliar with the ramifications of wireless technology. Informed, informative, and thoroughly 'reader friendly', "The New World Of Wireless" will provide cogent explanation of wireless communication, how to utilize it for new opportunities and advantages, and mitigate risks associated with the transformations compelled by wireless technology. Of special note are the two appendices on 'Taking the WiQ Survey' and 'Wireless 101: Inside the Technology'. Enhanced with the inclusion of copious 'endnotes' and an index, "The New World Of Wireless" is highly recommended reading for entrepreneurs and business managers having to understand the implications and ramifications of wireless technology with respect to their own corporate developments in a highly competitive, often volatile market, and expanding global marketplace.

5.0 out of 5 stars An eye opener to the wireless world, May 17, 2010
This review is from: The New World of Wireless: How to Compete in the 4G Revolution (Hardcover)
The author, Scott Snyder, gave me a new perspective on the wireless environment. I did not understand the full capabilities of smart phones until I read THE NEW WORLD OF Wireless. The analogy of the "digital swarm" helped me comprehend where the wireless market place is headed.

Any investment analyst covering the Telecom sector or IT manager in charge of Telecom should read this book. The author explains how the 4G revolution could change how businesses operate. The book outlines a framework to analyze the ever changing wireless technology and offers a methodology for senior management to think how wireless innovation could become a serious disruptive technology.

The technical concepts presented in the book are clear and concise. The many examples are well thought out and informative. Overall, this book will assist business leaders and investors in determining which companies will be the winners and losers in the new wireless world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Expert look at the coming revolution in wireless, March 24, 2010
This review is from: The New World of Wireless: How to Compete in the 4G Revolution (Hardcover)
Are you ready to become a "biological networked appliance"? That's the next big thing, according to Scott Snyder, technology maven and scenario planner. He predicts a device-filled future, offering remarkable digital simulations, Internet "bots" filtering out data that doesn't fit your interests, and a digital network that will surround, monitor and cater to you. Welcome to the wonderful world of 4G wireless. As fanciful as it sounds, such a future is just around the corner, for your company as well as yourself, thanks to advances in wireless technology, artificial intelligence and biotechnology. Snyder explains how organizations should plan for 4G and what it portends. getAbstract recommends Snyder's thorough report and analysis to CEOs, information technology executives and anyone who wants to prepare for the radically new world of wireless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Field guide to the changing game of wireless, September 14, 2009
By
Claudia (Boulder, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The New World of Wireless: How to Compete in the 4G Revolution (Hardcover)
Everyone recognizes that wireless is changing the way the world operates... this is the first book that I've seen that doesn't use the "crystal ball" method to predict the future. Instead, it describes in great detail two very different worlds that we could potentially find ourselves living in - and what to look for to determine if we are moving in that direction. In this fast moving market, being able to "see" the future a few months ahead of the competition is priceless, and this book will help you get there first.

Whether you are a healthcare exec thinking about the future of remote patient monitoring or a retail brand manager exploring how customer swarms will change the way you go to market, this book will help you think through future implications for your business and plan now for an optimal and flexible wireless strategy.

Free of jargon and consultant-ese, and equally appropriate for someone "new" to wireless as well as a seasoned expert looking for a different perspective. What more can you ask for from a quick, easy read?
