Spirits Burning - 'New Worlds By Design' (Gazal/Musea),
By
This review is from: New Worlds By Design (Audio CD)
Seventeen tracks of true avant garde progressive and indepth psychedelic assembled by none other than Don Falcone. He had apparently spent 1996-99 sending out notices to various space/prog/psych musicians to invite them to be a part of this brilliant project. No one should be at all disappointed. It's just SO much better than the two Spaceship Eyes discs that I've heard.'New Worlds...' features at least one member of F/i,Tenth Planet,Anubian Lights,Darxtar,Can,Quarkspace,The Brain,Porcupine Tree and Daevid Allen, who shows up on a handful of tunes providing gliss guitar as only he can and vocals.Good space rock tracks would be "Arcturus",the atmospheric "Beautiful Stealth","The Unknown","Smart Messages In The Sand",the thirteen-minute mindblowing "Ticking Of Science"(one of the better tunes on the entire disc) and "A Real Creeper".The more electronic cuts are "Solar Campfire","Triquetrium Delight","Secret Invention" and the potential rave favorite "Avatar".Do keep in mind that each song has a different line-up.A great CD to own.
