4.0 out of 5 stars Mountain in Their Prime, August 22, 2006

Now this recording sounds great (compared to the Fillmore East 1970 available in this series). My bet is these are off the Fillmore's house reels. Good soundboard recordings and a fine show. Worth getting if you are a Mountain or Leslie West fan. As good a live Mountain show as you will find.

Note the track listing is incorrect. There is no "Theme", it is instead "For Yasgur's Farm".

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocks Hard!, February 20, 2007
This review is from: New Year Concert 1971 (Audio CD)
If you are a Mountain fan you probably own their album "Flowers Of Evil". This album is very much like the live side of that classic album. There is plenty of improvisation, bass guitar fuzz, and Lesley going over the top with shear volume. The extended "Dreams Of Milk and Honey" just goes on and on..what a jam!

Simply put, this cd kicks! The sound quality is pretty good compared to some of the other cds in the "bootleg" series.

Put in on and turn it UP!

I have purchased a few and heard many others in the Mountain bootleg series and have been mostly disappointed with the sound quality. Not the case with this one. It sounds like a board recording and the audio quality is excellent. Its a 2 disc set with many of the songs that made Mountain such a great live act. The Cream influence is very evident in Dreams of Milk and Honey. Whoever labeled this must not have been a great Mountain fan though.

On disc 2 the song labeled "Theme for an Imaginary Western" is actually

"For Yasgurs Farm". Great recording though and I would highly recommend it.
