NYC is constantly changing, and paper guidebooks can’t keep up. Nor can their eBook counterparts, which are tied to the print cycle of publishing. We’re more nimble. But if we can’t do it well, we won’t do it at all. We don’t touch hotels or nightlife where too many options change too quickly. This guide focuses on sightseeing in Manhattan, but coverage extends to top spots in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

Travel with us and enjoy peace of mind from this one-stop essential guide with more insightful reviews and up-to-date information than our competitors.

I've been to NYC before, but it was a long time ago, so I was looking for a great sightseeing guide that would also give me tips on reliable places to eat and don't-miss shopping spots as I explored different neighborhoods. This guide does that, and a lot more. I was happily surprised by the walking tours, and also the coverage of Outer Boroughs. The writing wasn't dry at all, and was actually entertaining to read. Overall, this guide has a lot more insider tips and local flavor than the standard travel guidebooks I've read. A good bargain!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome guide! April 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Took the wife to NYC for her birthday and couldn't have done it without this. She couldn't believe how I knew where to go and how to get there. We walked the whole High Line, looked around Chelsea market and had wine at this stylish wine bar the author recommended after I emailed for a suggestion. It's like having your own tour guide!

5.0 out of 5 stars Info-packed guide April 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This e-book is packed with links and tips for visiting NYC (including the less-traveled outer boroughs). You really only have to read the first chapter, which summarizes top attractions, groups them by category, and links to more detail in other sections. It has classic destinations like Century 21 (a mega-department story offering clothing and shoe bargains) and some off-the-beaten-path attractions. I don't read many guides but this one is super informative :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great *Tips* November 27, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Pretty handy to have on the Kindle and author Tanenhaus provides really good tips on the layout of Manhattan, how to get around, what not to do, and highlights specific places to visit in the different neighborhoods (and boroughs) throughout NYC.

He also provides a little historical information on the places and neighborhoods and how they came to be. And he gives you tips like getting 10% off at Macy's for out-of-state visitors and what to see at museums. He also explains how to dress for various places you might want to visit like Broadway shows or nightclubs/restaurants, so you'll be prepared on what to pack depending on your itinerary.

I've been to NYC twice now and I love it! I'm on the West Coast, so it's definitely a different ball game in the East, and Tanenhaus's Kindle book will help you navigate this very busy and exciting city. He writes like a good friend telling you the ins and outs of his city.

The Kindle format is laid out like a book and it has links in it, which will take you to more detailed information on various places and things, and for some reason I have found that if I keep reading the pages after clicking the links I can't get back to my original page. This has happened to me with other Kindle Books, so it isn't just NEW YORK CITY ESSENTIAL GUIDE: BEST NYC, so I just wanted to let you know. I have the Kindle Fire HD.
