I thought I was ordering an umbrella as pictured, but I was contacted by the company to tell me it's just a subway map that I can get for free at any subway station. Very misleading.

This had better not be the "Official" MTA subway map as you claim. Reselling this item is ILLEGAL. Should the MTA find out they will probably try to sue you.
