This review is from: New York Confidential (A Weiss & Weiss Mystery) (Paperback)
I have had this book for several years and started it several times and put it down without finishing. That tells you something about the book. On a recent business trip I took it and finally finished it. It isn't a bad book and is worth reading. The chapters alternate between the immediate post-WWII era and today. The two crimes being investigated involve wartime black market activities and an influential Jewish businessman today eventually intersect. The one thing that really put me off was the author has his Jewish characters in the '40s talk like Molly Goldberg. We get it they are lower East side Jews. The author didn't have to throw every Yiddish cliche into the book just to make sure we understand.
