If you want to know the real New York you can't do better than follow this guide. Ms. Anderson clearly know the city and how best to enjoy it. The trip planner section helps you make the most of whatever time you have.

There is real depth to the guide. It covers the usual sites but offers up some hidden treats that you are unlikely to find on your own. While there is a lot packed into this package, the "Best" lists guide you straight to the meat saving you time and providing some real jewels. I particularly liked the "Best Viewpoints", the "Best tables for star spotting", the "Best Museum Cafes" and the "Best places to stay without breaking the bank".

The guide is broken down into easy to follow sections covering each part of the city. Not only does it describe the best of the entertainment on offer but also the history that made the districts what they are today.

Whether you are looking to spend your time sight seeing, dinning, dancing, at the theatre, drinking or checking out the vibrant music and comedy culture, this book will guide you to the best New York has to offer.

If you want just one guidebook to New York, I can highly recommend this one.
