Since 2004, New York magazine has been celebrating New York City style in a feature called "The Look Book": a centerfold-with its subject shot at random anywhere and everywhere across Gotham-along with an interview about the subject's personal style. The New York Look Book collects more than 200 of the best Look Book features, and a special "Where to Find It" section offers readers not only store listings, but also an insider's guide to New York's distinctive neighborhoods.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Street Fashion November 12, 2008
Format:Paperback
Unlike a lot of other "street fashion," books this is not just a bunch of hipsters that look practically the same. There are cowboys, want to be mobsters, everything inbetween and things not even on the spectrum. The interviews are also insightful and usually hilarious. Great, great book for anyone, not just fashionistas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome BOOK! September 13, 2007
Format:Paperback
This book is great! With a bunch of interesting interviews and pictures from the craziness of NY's streets. It almost feels like you are walking down 6th ave or in Union Square. My favorite part is the guide at the back for the best shopping spots in New York. I'm defintiely going to be emptying out my bookstores shelves for Christmas to give to my family and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Anyone that Loves New York! September 13, 2007
Format:Paperback
With gorgeous photography, smart interviews, and a VERY useful guide to NYC shopping the back, New York Look Book is a must-have for anyone living here or even just visiting! The best part is walking down the street and suddenly recognizing someone from the book's pages. Makes you feel like you're really a part of this city.

5.0 out of 5 stars NYC Street Style Bible September 12, 2007
By K. Brey
Format:Paperback
Couldn't wait to get the Look Book book being a fan of the regular feature in NY Magazine. I'm not disapointed - its such a great book! This book is a collection of the best of the Look Book over the years. There are also some new people who hadn't appeared in the magazine before. There are some very memorable characters and styles. They really capture the feel of NYC street style and all the people who make this city so unique. Anyone who loves fashion will love this book. I know I will be giving it to everyone for Christmas.

1.0 out of 5 stars buy something else January 28, 2009
By LC
Format:Paperback
After reading the many great reviews for this book, I was expecting to see some really interesting styles featured. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I didn't really get how the people shown in this book were fashionable or cutting edge in any way. There were a few exceptions of course, but the majority of the people included were nothing to get excited about. They looked pretty ordinary...which is not something I was expecting from a book about street fashion. Street fashion is supposed to be a bit wild and really beyond the norm, but this was not. A couple of good alternatives would be Street: The Nylon Book Of Global Style, or The Tokyo Look Book.

I purchased this book based on the reviews, my love of The Sartorialist, The Selby, and design in general. I'm a Boomer and find that my curiosity and appreciation of all things increases as I age. This book delivers!
