I used to live in NYC, and still visit often...but not often enough. This well-researched book will be great for my next trip, as a walking tour guide; in the meantime, I'm having a lot of fun reading and remembering the movies and their locales.
I recommend this book to all travelers to NY!

This is a great book that starts out with a detailed history of the birth of the film industry in New Jersey.

The book eases you from the history, right into specific sections of Manhattan, without you barely noticing.

It's comprehensive in so many ways, that even living in NYC, and being a NYC movie scene buff, I discovered many new things.

The book is broken down by sections of the city:

Midtown, Broadway, Uppers East side, etc.

So it'd be easy to put together a good walking tour that is filled with sites to enjoy.

This is a great travel companion when visiting NYC, or a nice desk reference for more info while watching your favorite movies.

I'm going to add this to my Amazon list of "Best guide books of NYC".

This is a terrific book for New York lovers like me! I highly recommend it to anyone!

This book is great way to take a tour of the city. There are interesting and insightful descriptions of dozens of houses, hotels, bars, etc. that figured in some way in films over the past 100 years. Following the guide gives you a history lesson as well as a lot of information as to how NYC has been used as a movie set by hundreds of film makers. In fact, some of these entries are places that were part of the movie industry at its beginnings, before the start of the Hollywood era. There are studio locations, processing plants, etc. that were foundations of the industry in the early 20th Century.
If you're into actors, this guide takes you to the residences of a good many of the best known actors over many years. Really a fun book and a whole new way to see New York.
