This critically acclaimed film examines the history of New York's African Americans, beginning from the early 1600's . Featured are segments on Civil Rights, Politics, Business, Military Heroes, the Harlem Renaissance and much more.
I haven't finished watching the movie, but it didn't really give me what I was looking for. I was looking for a documentary style of depiction of the Harlem Renaissance, which I guess would've been hard to do. But I also wanted just more information about which artists unwittingly started the revolution and what significant social events and political events occurred that would have influenced artists and their works and the climate of blacks coming up in the world after WWI through the 1930s or even 40s.
