NOTE: I am reviewing an app, not the journalistic skills of the New York Post staff. Journalism, like cars, men/women, and colors are a matter of personal taste where one size does not fit all.

The first thing I do when I grab an app from an online source is look at the app in comparison to what the source offers on its webpage. Surprisingly, the New York Post app is slightly better than the mobile version of it's website, and not nearly as cluttered as the desktop version. It's easier to access various sections, and loads quickly. On the tablet, it uses to whole screen, giving one an easy time reading. Buttons for jumping to the next or previous story are along the top of each story page, allowing you to move along through sections with ease instead of having to go back to the main page.

Here is something to pay attention to: it updates on its own, around the clock. Those on limited data plans beware. There is a notice one every single page about this, giving warning. The app uses is using up rought 7MB of memory, which isn't a whole lot, about the same as the average live wallpaper. The benefit of the continual updating is so that you can view everything offline, for instance when you're on a plane or other place where you have no data connection. In testing, it mostly worked. The first few times I tried it, the app locked up at the intro screen and then force closed. When it started working, it worked fine but kept popping up a notice that it could not find an internet connection. It did this every single time I switched pages, making it a severe annoyance. Good idea, poor execution.

I actually really like this app. I simply used to use an ad blocker on my old phone it it worked great. I like the stories and style of reporting from the Post. However after upgrading my phone to an S4 it only tries to open a browser and show an ad every time I open it, only to say no ad found. Please fix!

2.0 out of 5 stars Paid App with Ads August 10, 2011
By CtotheC

When was the last time that you paid money to see more ads? This app does just that. From the initial launch to looking at the headline to reading articles, you see ads, ads, and more ads. And they are placed in a location that if you try to access a menu, you can end up clicking the ad. Another annoying feature: even if you change the font size, out doesn't stick. Not even for the same article.\n\nGet the CNN News app instead. Free, no ads, and better reporting.

1.0 out of 5 stars spotty December 29, 2011

Works well on my Tab 10.1 but attempts to pull up ad that doesn't function on my new Galaxy Nexus and prevents user from using the app. Perhaps it is an ice cream sandwich glitch. Please update to give proper rating.

1.0 out of 5 stars this Application used to be good. January 22, 2013
Verified Purchase
Now I am not basing this new review on the content of the source material this app pulls from, it is the app itself. I used to read it every so often just see what's what. But lately I am unable to load the application without it forcing my browser open with a link about ad or something. Now I would probably be far more miffed about this inability to bypass this if it weren't for the fact that I got this app as a free app of the day a while back. This issue needs to be corrected fast before it makes more readers mad.

Previously:
This app has a nice organization to its content. The app is also stable which is a unusual thing to see as most newspaper/magazine apps tend to be unstable and riddled with advertisements that interrupt the reading experience. I would highly recommend this app to any that like to read content from the New York Post.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good app gone bad January 10, 2013
Verified Purchase
Have had this app over a year and normally I love it but the last couple of times I opened it there has been a huge problem. As soon as the app opens so does my browser to a page that will not open. I hit the back button, the browser closes until the app reappears. Then the process starts all over. I cannot use the app at all due to this issue. Please fix it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Annoying! April 12, 2012
By S. York

This app force closes quite often. Sometimes it will go days without doing it then all of a sudden it will do within a minute of opening the app and will do over and over again. Often times the force close message will appear again immediately after closing it and viewing something else. It's very annoying! I
have the paid for version and it has ads! Also annoying!
